New Six Flags Coaster Opening Postponed Indefinitely

Six Flags Over Texas has a massive new roller coaster on the way that will beat six world records. Tormenta Rampaging Run is a record-breaking giga dive coaster set to be the tallest, fastest, longest, and most inverted dive coaster on the planet.

The ride was scheduled to open on Friday, June 26th, to celebrate the park’s 65th anniversary. But the ride’s opening has just been postponed – with no opening date in sight!

“All of us at Six Flags Over Texas are just as excited as you are to experience this record-breaking dive coaster. As we continue preparing for its debut, the commissioning and testing process is taking longer than expected,” Six Flags Over Texas stated in an Instagram post on the cancellation. “While this means pausing our current opening timeline, it ensures that when Tormenta charges out of the gates, it will be a ride experience worthy of its name—bold, intense, and unforgettable. We’ll share a new opening date as soon as it’s ready to be announced.”

Tormenta is a first-of-its-kind giga coaster, which blends the vertical drama of a dive coaster with the grand heights of a giga, and adds on multiple massive inversions, including a record-breaking vertical loop. Tormenta Rampaging Run will bring riders to a height of 309 feet before plummeting them down a wild 285 feet at a beyond-vertical 95 degrees. The new coaster is shattering six World Records at the same time:

• Longest Dive Coaster: 4,199 feet
• Tallest Dive Coaster: 309 feet
• Highest 95 Degree Beyond Vertical Drop: 285 feet
• Fastest Dive Coaster: 87 mph
• Highest Immelmann Inversion: 218 feet
• Tallest Vertical Coaster Loop: 179 feet
