Believe it or not, it’s already time to start planning 2027 Disney World vacations, including choosing hotels.

However, there are certain Disney World resorts you’ll want to steer clear of at various times during the year.

January 24th through January 30th, 2027: Art of Animation, Pop Century, the Riviera Resort, and the Caribbean Beach Resort

The Disney World Skyliner will be closed for its annual maintenance from January 24th through January 30th, 2027. While Disney will provide complimentary bus service between the four Skyliner resorts (Art of Animation, Pop Century, the Riviera Resort, and the Caribbean Beach Resort) and EPCOT and Hollywood Studios during the closure, the removal of the Skyliner eliminates one of the biggest perks of these hotels for the duration of its closure.

Beginning Late Spring: Art of Animation

In addition to the Skyliner closure, Art of Animation will also be undergoing a phased room refurbishment throughout the year. Beginning in the spring, the resort’s standard rooms and family suites will be transformed and modernized. The resort will remain open throughout this refurbishment, but given the issues that come with construction, many guests may want to skip over the Value Tier Resort entirely until the refurbishment is complete.

Fort Wilderness Campground

Disney’s campground has been an integral part of the Disney World experience since (almost) the very beginning. However, with the current construction at the resort and the summer 2027 opening of the massive Lakeshore Lodge Resort (which is located right near the campground, in the former location of the River Country water park), combined with the fact that the free water park day perk will NOT extend to Fort Wilderness guests next year, has many rethinking their stay at the campground in 2027.

This hotel’s room refurbishment – – which is transforming the majority of hotel rooms at the resort since May of 2025 – – will continue through August 2027. During this time, guests may experience closed walkways and elevated noise during the day.

Beach Club Resort

Work on the Beach Club’s exterior will continue through late 2027. According to Disney, this work will impact views from various locations across the resort hotel and, at times, require guests to use alternate paths of travel. In addition, those staying at the hotel may see or hear work in the area during daytime hours until the refurbishment is complete.

Through late 2027, a refurbishment at the Contemporary will see work across the resort, including both Bay Lake Tower and the Main Tower atrium. According to Disney, the Main Tower’s exterior maintenance “may impact views from various locations throughout the Resort hotel and, at times, require alternate paths of travel.”
