2025 has felt like the year of Disney World closures. We’ve said goodbye to half of DinoLand U.S.A., and shared a final farewell to the Liberty Square Riverboat, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Rivers of America. What might have been the most painful of all the closures was Muppets Courtyard.

This year, Muppet*Vision 3D, PizzaRizzo, and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano had their final showings and served their last pizzas and pastas; honestly, we’re still not over it. While the Muppets are getting evicted for the residents of Monstropolis, Disney has promised that the Muppets aren’t quite leaving Hollywood Studios.
If you’ve ever visited Muppets Courtyard, you might of noticed the most gorgeous statue in the world smack dab in the middle of the area. On top of the fountain is no other than Miss Piggy, the icon herself.

Miss Piggy was decked out in her Statue of Liberty outfit, just like at the end of Muppet*Vision (but this one doesn’t end with her skirt unraveled!). A little closer, you could see Muppet rats in small boats fishing for the coins thrown in by visitors.

When news broke that Muppets Courtyard was shutting down, Disney announced that they weren’t leaving, just relocating to Sunset Boulevard. In fact, Areosmith is the one getting the boot as their Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is being rethemed to the Muppets, featuring the Electric Mayhem.

Muppet fans were hoping (maybe begging) that the Miss Piggy fountain would be over to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Unfortunately, it appears that the concept art Disney has been releasing suggests that the fountain isn’t leaving Monstropolis — it’s being altered.

In the concept art, it looks like there is still a fountain, exactly where it originally was. Actually, it seems like most buildings are staying, including the old PizzaRizzo and Muppet*Vision building.

An aerial shot of the construction shows that, currently, the fountain still stands, but no Miss Piggy. Warning: the following picture might make Muppet fans shed a tear.

Should the fountain remain in the new Monsters, Inc. land? Should it be moved to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster? We don’t know. Anyway we think about it, we’re just sad to be missing the quirkiness of the Muppets. We are hoping for hidden Easter eggs and details in the new Monstropolis area that reference the Muppets, so maybe the Muppets still aren’t entirely leaving the courtyard.

What can we look forward to? Disney has been releasing more details about the Monsters, Inc. land, which does look pretty fun. There will be a quick service restaurant and a show.

The most significant part we’re excited about is the new roller coaster. It will be a hanging door coaster, just like the one from the Monsters, Inc. movie.

Disney has been boasting about the technology used for the new attractions, including how a claw picks up your ride vehicle and then places it onto the track, much like the doors in the movie.

While it is not confirmed, they have been teasing Harryhausen’s in all three of the concept art pieces they’ve released. This is the Japanese restaurant from the movie, and we’re crossing our fingers we’ll get to have our date nights here without it ending like Mike and Celia’s.

What about the Electric Mayhem coaster? Well, Disney hasn’t provided any details on this, except that it will open sometime in 2026. We don’t know the music, how much is being changed, if there will be ride scenes, or really anything. Whatever comes of it, we hope it feels just as special as Muppet*Vision.

It’s amazing. But, Disney will need to add a little more Disney magic to the final product with more subtle details beyond what’s shown in the concept art. For example, the were monster touches on the former PizzeRisso exterior in the earlier concept art. Those details need to return.
