Back to School Season Is Bringing...LONGER Waits to Disney World?

School has officially started back for many families around the country, so what does that mean for Disney World crowds?

Well, in the past we’ve seen crowds dip a little bit when the traditional “summer season” ends, or at least when many states start back to school. But what about THIS year? Things have been looking a little different around the parks in terms of ride wait times all year, and it appears that trend may be continuing.

Magic Kingdom

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train had an expected highest wait time of 75 minutes (which still isn’t too bad!), but Space Mountain was only 5 minutes less than that at one point! However, can we please get some of these classic Magic Kingdom attractions some TLC? Mad Tea Party was down for 3 HOURS in a row, Under The Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid was down for the last 2 hours of the day, and Prince Charming’s Regal Carrousel was down during the day as well.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure had the highest wait time of 75 minutes, BUT also went down twice during the day. Frozen Ever After also had some trouble at the end of the day, but otherwise, EPCOT did pretty well in terms of ride issues!

Flight of Passage reached a 105 minute wait, which is a little higher than the average we’ve been seeing recently, but other than Kali River Rapids going down for one hour, all the Animal Kingdom rides were VERY reliable yesterday!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

It looked like Slinky Dog Dash would have the highest wait of the day with 105 minutes, but at the LAST hour, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster came in with a 115 minute wait and blew it out of the water. However, DHS seemed to struggle with ride closures, as Smuggler’s Run, Rise of the Resistance, and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway all closing throughout the day.
