Did Disney Just Drop HINTS About a Potential Avatar Expansion at D23?!

This weekend is a HUGE one for The Walt Disney Company.

D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event is underway, and we’re expecting to get a LOT of big announcements about everything from Disney movies to new experiences and rides coming to Disney Parks. However, the event is also bringing some fun experiences for attendees, including the first full Avatar pavilion.

That’s right, for the first time ever, Avatar will have its own dedicated pavilion at a D23 event. It will be a walk-through immersive experience inspired by “the alien beauty and unique storytelling of Avatar.” Let’s go inside!

Let’s go to Pandora!

The pavilion will showcase the culture of the Na’vi, explore a Bioluminescent Forest, and soar through the mountains like a banshee. If this sounds a lot like Pandora in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, well, there are SOME similarities. We loved how the exhibit displayed the bioluminescence of the world.

The exhibit highlighted much of Pandora’s flora and fauna as it appears at night.

But we get to see some of its peoples, too, like Jake and Neytiri from the movies.

We even got to see what the Pandora natives wear.

Of course, we can’t mention the creatures of Pandora without expecting to see a banshee — and the exhibit did not disappoint.

There is also a lovely tribute to Avatar producer Jon Landau, who recently passed away.

Disney previously released some concept art of an Avatar-inspired land that Imagineers are considering for Disneyland. Could this be a hint about what that land might look like?
