Yes, We’ll Keep Telling You To Rope Drop Magic Kingdom – Here’s Why

We know it’s hard to get up early when you’re on vacation, but if you’re in Disney World, who needs sleep? (Okay, it’s us…so we DO get it.)

We won’t always tell you to get up early, though, to be at the parks before rope drop, unless it’s for specific parks. There is ONE park, though, that we think you should ALWAYS try to rope drop, and that’s Magic Kingdom. Now, we’re going to tell you why.​

When we’re looking at wait times in Disney World, the park that almost always has low wait times (save for one super popular ride) is Magic Kingdom. We’re talking wait times of 5-15 minutes for most rides and 20-25 for a few others. In fact, the only ride wait time over 25 minutes for yesterday, April 6th, was Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

So here’s what we suggest. Rope drop Magic Kingdom — or if you can, get there even earlier for Early Theme Park Entry (a perk for guests of Disney World hotels). You’ll get to squeeze in a lot of rides quickly very early in the  morning. Then, if you want to ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, you can just purchase the Individual Lightning Lane option for that. You may not even need to purchase Genie+ unless you want to ride some attractions twice (which is also a good strategy if you rope drop).
