Your Rope Drop Strategy for Disney World Needs to Change

Disney World has changed big time just over the past week, and we’ve already seen wait times fluctuate because of it. I’ve seen a lot of changes happen in Disney World over the years, but THIS is something peculiar!

Construction is now ALL over both Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and one popular attraction is now officially back open in EPCOT. If you’re visiting the parks soon, these new trends are something you should really keep an eye on.

I am a Disney World expert, and I’ve been studying the wait times for years. Let’s take a look at the wait times in all four parks from Thursday, July 24th!

Magic Kingdom

In a pretty shocking twist, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train had the highest wait time of 95 minutes towards the end of the day. However, the park did see lots of closures that had nothing to do what that finicky summer weather — Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, the PeopleMover, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, Carousel of Progress, Enchanted Tales with Belle, Space Mountain, and none other than Seven Dwarfs Mine Train had closures throughout the day.

Now that the new version of Test Track is open, it has the highest wait of 120 minutes, which is about what we expected to see! The ride did have two closure issues throughout the day, but they were resolved pretty quickly, so have patience if you’re visiting soon — some of those bugs may still be being worked out.

Flight of Passage and Na’vi River Journey both tied at 95 minute waits, which we haven’t seen in quite some time. It does look though like storms did affect this park pretty heavily, as both Expedition Everest and Kali River Rapids were closed for multiple hours of the day (three for Everest and five for Kali).

Slinky Dog Dash hit a 150 minute wait, which is one of the highest wait times we’ve seen in a while! Rise of the Resistance and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster both faced issues, but fortunately it only lasted an hour for both of them. That’s pretty great for this park, so way to go DHS!
