Someone Get Magic Kingdom A Cup of Coffee Because It Was STRUGGLING Yesterday Morning

Let’s talk about rope drop. For those who don’t know rope drop is when you get to the park as soon as it opens. So, technically, you can usually get into each Disney World park AHEAD of opening time, but ropes are put in place so that you can’t visit rides.

So when the rope drops, you can head to your first ride. It’s a great way to avoid long lines by being among the first people IN line for a ride. However, not everything always goes according to plan, even at rope drop.​

Yesterday, four Magic Kingdom rides were closed when the park opened, meaning that if you were heading to any of those rides for rope drop, you did not have a chance to ride them. This includes Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, which is a POPULAR rope drop option as its lines can get pretty long throughout the day.

However, another popular rope drop ride, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was also closed at park open, along with Dumbo and Barnstormer. If you were wanting to knock those rides out first thing in Magic Kingdom yesterday, you were pretty much out of luck. We recommend keeping an eye on My Disney Experience if you plan on rope dropping any park and making sure the ride you want to go on first is open so you don’t waste valuable time walking to it.
