Construction UPDATE on the ‘Cars’ Expansion at Magic Kingdom

It’s finally happening! Everybody, stay calm!

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom’s big plans for the future are finally underway. We recently stopped by the park and spotted a construction update in preparation for the new Cars Land, Piston Peak. Let’s take a look!

Disney Vacation Planner

Magic Kingdom will be welcoming two new lands in the future, a Villains Land and a Cars Land. We haven’t gotten much information on Villains Land, but Disney has revealed a few cool things about Cars Land, which is officially called Piston Peak.

Piston Peak will be taking over where Tom Sawyer Island, the Liberty Boat, and the Rivers of America werewhich all closed on July 7th! Just shortly after closing, construction walls popped up around Magic Kingdom. And now, more construction walls have appeared.

Construction walls extended by the Haunted Mansion

Disney has extended the walls near the Haunted Mansion queue area.

Wall extended from the Haunted Mansion queue

The wall travels all the way down into Frontierland by Big Thunder Mountain Railroad — it’s a LONG wall.

The wall keeps going!

There is a small break in the wall towards the center, where the bridge from the mainland pathway in Frontierland is. Other than that, there is no other break.

Look at the wall from the other side

When walking through the break, we actually noticed that the water level had gone down a bit. It’s not drained, but we noticed a difference. We will note that we were looking for it, so if you weren’t looking for it, you probably wouldn’t notice it too much.

Hedges at the Liberty Belle entrance

There’s also temporary walls up behind the hedges inside where you boarded the Liberty Belle riverboat.

Closer to Big Thunder Mountain

You can see the walls change color to better match Frontierland as you get closer to Big Thunder Mountain.

The walls extend so far!

Thanks to our friends @bioreconstruct on X (Twitter), who provided us with some awesome aerial footage. Here you can see the construction walls along a Rivers of America area bridge. Like we mentioned with the break in the wall, the shore still has views of Tom Sawyer Island.

Here’s a look at how long the wall really is!

Then there’s this look at the Liberty Belle riverboat in the Magic Kingdom service canal. She looks so lonely!

We’re going to be keeping an eye out for more construction changes along the way, and there’s going to be lots. We’re excited to see what comes of the new Magic Kingdom down the road. For more Disney news and updates, be sure to follow us at AllEars.
