We’re about halfway through the Halloween season at Disney World, and we have plenty of proof that there truly are some BAD places to go in the evening.
Why? Well, throughout the Halloween season, Magic Kingdom closes at 6PM for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which means that regular ticketed guests with park hopper options will likely head to another park. Here’s why we’re telling you you need to experience some rides EARLY in the day before those crowds arrive!
Here’s a look at the Disney World wait times on September 13th, 2024. Take a look at the posted times for some of Disney’s popular rides after 5PM; you’ll notice that some wait times in the other parks increased when Magic Kingdom closed to non-Halloween Party guests.
Magic Kingdom
The highest wait in Magic Kingdom was TRON Lightcycle / Run at 80 minutes, but right at the start of the day! The next hour it dropped down to only 35 minutes! It seems the switch to a regular standby queue has worked well for the ride, especially because the wait time didn’t immediately increase when other popular rides like Peter Pan’s Flight, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Space Mountain closed throughout the day.

It appears that Hollywood Studios is definitely NOT the park to go to when Magic Kingdom closes early, because both Slinky Dog Dash and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster tied at 90 minutes, BUT Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster didn’t peak that high until 6PM, right when Magic Kingdom was closing.
