Imagine this scenario: you get to Magic Kingdom for rope drop, and you even got up super early to make it to the park on time. You decide you want to ride your favorite ride first thing, but once those ropes drop, you get to that ride and discover that it’s closed.
Well, that’s exactly what happened yesterday for folks looking to ride Pirates of the Caribbean when they first arrived at rope drop in Magic Kingdom.
So here’s what happened. Yesterday, when Magic Kingdom opened at 9 AM, Pirates of the Caribbean was closed. It remained closed for several hours, so those people who wanted to ride it first thing didn’t get a chance to. We see this happen often with this particular ride, so if that’s your rope drop strategy, you may need to change it — or at least have a backup plan.
With that being said, the good news is that the ride did eventually open, and for those who caught it early enough, they probably had a pretty short wait time. The key to doing this is to keep checking the My Disney Experience app to see when the ride reopens and then rush on over to the ride before everyone else realizes it’s open. This is a good way to ride it without a long standby line.
