We know not everyone loves getting up early when they’re on vacation, but Disney World is not your typical vacation.
You know that whole “The early bird gets the worm” phrase that gets thrown around a lot? Well, it’s true in Disney World, except the early bird gets to ride a LOT more rides in Disney World than those folks who sleep in. So if you’re going to rope drop Magic Kingdom, we’re going to tell you how to do it.
So when it comes to rope drop, you need a strategy. Now most folks use rope drop to head straight to rides like Peter Pan’s Flight and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train because they tend to have some of the highest wait times throughout the day. But because of that, those lines tend to be longer at rope drop, too.
Instead, there are 14 other rides that rope drop folks are ignoring, so those are the ones you should focus on: Haunted Mansion, Astro Orbiter, Barnstormer, Carousel of Progress, Dumbo, “it’s a small world,” Mad Tea Party, Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Pirates of the Caribbean, Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, Tomorrowland Speedway, Under the Sea — Journey of The Little Mermaid, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, and Space Mountain. These rides tend to have wait times of 10 minutes or less at rope drop.
You can get a lot done in the mornings if you focus on those rides with the shorter wait times. And if you want to ride the other rides, there’s always Lightning Lane Multi Pass. However, this strategy can also work for rides you want to experience more than once. You can rope drop Haunted Mansion, and then ride it again later with Lightning Lane Multi Pass when the standby wait time is longer. It’s a win-win!
