Fans Are Calling Out 10 Glaring Problems That Need to Be Fixed ASAP in Disney World Rides

Walt Disney World is called the “Most Magical Place on Earth” for a reason. For over 50 years, the resort has thrilled millions of guests without it’s staggering scale, character interactions, food, and, of course, rides. However, that doesn’t mean everything’s perfect.

We recently took to our Facebook page to poll YOU, our readers, about what Disney World ride issues you think need to be fixed ASAP. As expected, you all didn’t disappoint, giving us a varied group of answers to things you want to see changed as quickly as possible.

The responses we received could generally be split into two categories: Ones with requests for fixes on specific rides, and ones that asked for overall fixes to Disney World’s overall infrastructure.

Let’s begin with the former. Reader Sarah was one of the first respondents, bringing up the Tomorrowland Speedway. They wrote, of the ride’s fumes, “ It’s horrible to walk past. I can’t imagine what it’s like for the people that work on that ride and around that ride day after day. It should just be shut down, pending a replacement!” Reader Shanna agreed, writing, “The Speedway! The gas fumes give me a headache, and ruin my relaxing PeopleMover experience. Gas vehicles are not the way of tomorrow, can we make the cars electric already?”

Reader Tina also brought up the Tomorrowland attraction, and even suggested replacement, writing, “Bulldoze Tomorrowland Speedway and replace with a proper immersive electric vehicle ride, maybe take theming from Zootopia?”

Moving on from the Speedway, reader Candace brought up a Disney classic, writing, “Haunted Mansion to run smoothly all of the time! I have been stuck, for such long periods, so many times…I now have PTSD on this ride and cannot ride anymore.”

Haunted Mansion

Reader Jessica suggested an improvement to Animal Kingdom’s premier Avatar attraction, writing, “Flight of Passage is blurry. Plus get some new ones that fit with the new movies. They could play on a loop and you don’t know which ride you will get.”

Flight of Passage

Remaining in Animal Kingdom, reader Susie had a request for Animal Kingdom’s Kilimanjaro Safaris, wishing it were able to “go slower and make some stops so we could get better photos. I know you can do behind the scenes tours and they want to get as many people through as possible, but I always wish I had better photos.”

Reader Holly brought up Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. However, their issue wasn’t with the ride itself, but rather the queue. Holly wrote, “Everyone runs to the right & they push you away. My family’s been pushed by adults, teens & children, as well as cursed out.”, and hoped Disney would find a way to better organize the line. Several other readers offered similar takes on the popular ride’s queue system.

And, perhaps unsurprisingly, several readers brought popular effects that have long been broken. Several brought up the Yeti at the heart of Expedition Everest, who has been stuck in its stagnant “Disco Yeti” mode for nearly two decades, while others pointed to the massive, previously moving canons on Rise of the Resistance.

Disco Yeti is B Mode, for example!

Moving on from individual rides, many readers expressed issues with elements of Disney’s overall ride infrastructure. Let’s start with Nicole, who was one of several readers to mention perceived upkeep issues. They wrote, “Just a better maintenance schedule. Give the rides the love and attention they deserve so that we can enjoy them for generations to come.”

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Construction

Meanwhile, reader Gregory requested “more opportunities for single riders”, while reader Ed pushed that Disney needs to “build rides that acknowledge that people are bigger than they were in 1955.”

Dumbo

Several other readers brought up issues with rides going down and Disney’s communication in those situations. Steven wrote, “Attractions being down at rope drop. It’s enormously frustrating when, after putting in the effort to get to the attraction at the front, you are faced with a group of cast members telling you that the ride is down”, while Lorie wrote, “Better communication when an attraction goes down. Do we wait it out? Do we leave the queue just to see the attraction come right back up?”
