Yikes! This Disney World Ride Had ISSUES Yesterday

It’s going to probably happen at least once every Disney World trip: your favorite ride will temporarily close, meaning you may not get a chance to ride it.

Now, some rides notoriously close more than others (Rise of the Resistance, we’re looking at you), but ride closures usually only last for an hour or two. However, one popular ride in Disney’s Animal Kingdom was closed for nearly five hours at the beginning of the day, which must have certainly put a wrench in some Disney World visitors’ plans.​

Yesterday, Expedition Everest in Disney’s Animal Kingdom was not open when the park opened at 8 AM. Now, sometimes that happens. Sometimes rides need a little extra time to get going. However, the ride remained closed until 1 PM, which means it was closed for a total of five hours during what may be the busiest time of day in Animal Kingdom.

Now, a lot of folks who park hop only spend half a day in Animal Kingdom, where they start their park hopping day (because of its early opening time), so this means those who were leaving the park to park hop did not have a chance to ride it. Now, this happens sometimes, and there’s not a lot you can do about it, but it’s still disappointing.

Of course, there’s plenty of other things to keep you busy in Animal Kingdom, including walking trails to see animals, other rides, and shows like Festival of the Lion King and Finding Nemo: The Big Blue and Beyond! So if this happens to you, the best thing you can do is do other things and keep checking the My Disney Experience app to see when the closed ride reopens.
