Lightning Lanes can be a great way to skip the lines when you’re at Disney World, but sometimes the prices are, well, STEEP. It can be tempting to buy Lightning Lanes when they’re at their cheapest, but because prices are based on demand, higher prices are likely when you need them most.
Spring break has hit Disney World, so Lightning Lane prices are high and selling out. Should you buy Lightning Lanes when prices are high? Let’s find out.

Magic Kingdom
The highest wait times for the day were at TRON Lightcycle / Run, which got up to 95 minutes a few times, including at the end of the day, which is why it’s not always worth it to wait till the end to ride your favorite rides. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was around 60 to 75 minutes all day, which is the other Lightning Lane Single Pass you can buy. These passes are great when you want to skip the most popular ride at each park but don’t want to worry about the others.

Over in EPCOT, per usual, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind had the highest wait times, getting up to 115 minutes. Test Track also had a high wait time and was also hit with some closures. If you had a Lightning Lane for Test Track and it closed down during your return time, you’re usually offered another chance to hop to another attraction, so don’t worry if an attraction gets closed for weather. You also might be able to ride the same attraction later in the day once it’s back up — just keep in mind the lines are usually longer then.

Animal Kingdom is currently going through some huge changes, and right now, there are quite a few rides and experiences closed to make room for the new additions. Because of that, wait times across the park are higher than usual. Despite the high wait times, there are also not a lot of attractions to experience, so you might end up not needing Lightning Lanes to get everything done, but it might be more enjoyable not to wait in so many lines.

Lightning Lanes can be hard to snag at Hollywood Studios, but we find it’s usually worth it if you want to get through all the rides.
