To rope drop or not to rope drop, that is the question. Rope drop is when you plan to be at the park when it opens to try to get into line at an attraction when the wait times are low. This is perfect for those popular attractions that consistently have long wait times.
But now that you’re planning on rope dropping, what are you actually going to ride? We look at the wait times every day at Disney World to see what common trends we can spot so you can plan for the most magical day ever. Can the wait times tell us which ride is best to rope drop? We think so!
Let’s take a look at the wait times for Tuesday, September 16th, 2025, at Disney World.
Magic Kingdom
Oh, Magic Kingdom, why do you have so many incredible rides? Looking at the wait times, at 9 AM, which is when the park opens, TRON Lightcycle / Run is only 25 minutes, which could save you hours of waiting. You might be tempted to head towards Frontierland for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, but we find more often than not, this ride doesn’t open exactly at 9, so you might want to bank on a ride that is more consistently open. Tomorrowland is part of Early Entry, which is where Disney World Resort guests get an extra 30 minutes of ride time, so by the time you head over, the ride should be running as smoothly as possible.

What about at EPCOT? The most popular seem to be Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, both solid options for your park day. Frozen Ever After used to be the most popular rope drop attraction before the other two were built, and it seems like most people have forgotten about it in the morning. If Frozen is on your list, you might want to head there in the morning, but Test Track isn’t a bad option either.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom
In Animal Kingdom, there are significantly fewer options to choose from. The most popular is usually Avatar Flight of Passage, but sometimes, we’re able to get on both Kilimanjaro Safaris and Na’vi River Journey in the time that it takes someone to go on Flight of Passage. Just keep in mind that the Safari sometimes opens later depending on the animals, and the ride can be longer if they decide to roam close to the vehicle. The animals can be more active in the morning, too, since they save their afternoons for napping. If both rides are on your list, pick the one to prioritize and then head to the second.

Hollywood Studios has some real hard hitters! If Slinky Dog Fash is open, this is a great attraction to rope drop, but it’s not always up in the morning. Tower of Terror or Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run are solid choices too. Sometimes, we like to go on Tower of Terror and then head to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster since they’re so close, but Rock ‘n’ can sometimes have a hard time waking up in the morning.
