Yep, You Still Need To Rope Drop Magic Kingdom – Here’s Why

We know it’s hard to get up early when you’re supposed to be on vacation. But Disney World isn’t like a typical vacation — yes, it takes a little bit of work to make the trip go as smoothly as possible.

First, you’re going to put in more steps than you could ever have dreamed of. You’re also going to be a lot more aware of the time, especially if you have advance dining reservations and Lightning Lane selections. Then there’s getting up early to hit the parks. Now, we won’t always tell you to rope drop Disney World’s theme parks, but we will tell you this: you’ll always want to rope drop Magic Kingdom.​

Why’s that? Well, you’ll find the LOWEST wait times for rides in Magic Kingdom right after the park opens. So being there for rope drop means you can knock out a ton of rides quickly before the crowds arrive and those wait times go up. If you’re not a morning person, you’ll still want to try — you can always take a midday break when the wait times are high and go take a nap in your hotel room.

Even better? If you’re staying at a Disney World hotel, you can also take advantage of Early Theme Park Entry and knock out even MORE rides before wait times grow throughout the day.

If you want to maximize your Magic Kingdom time even further, get Lightning Lane Multi Pass, but book those selections for an hour or two after the park opens. Then rope drop to knock out rides with low standby times and hit up the rides you missed at rope drop later. You can even use Lightning Lane Multi Pass to re-ride some of your favorites that you rope dropped.
