How to live APPily ever after…
In recent years, the Disney World mobile app has become an integral part of the “Vacation Kingdom” experience. For better or worse, the smartphone application is integrated into the resort’s ticketing, dining reservations, Lightning Lanes, Virtual Queues, and PhotoPass system. While most of the time, that creates a more convenient experience, sometimes technical issues crop up. These are some of the more common problems and the best ways to fix them.
Having General Issues?
Let’s start with the basics. If you’re having general issues with the app like heavy lagging or load failures (either before or during your trip, log out and then log back in. Yes, the literal equivalent of “unplugging the app and plugging it back in” sounds like a joke, but in actuality, it’s a simple but effective to fix the app’s issues.
App Freezing in the Parks?
To get a bit more specific, if you keep finding yourself with a frozen app while in the parks — even after logging in and out — try turning your WIFI off. While Walt Disney Disney’s WIFI coverage is somewhat respectable given the huge amount of distance and number of guests it has to cover, the service often has issues, especially on busy days.
Not Seeing Your Reservations?
One of the biggest advantages of the app is that it can hold all the reservations for your party – theme park tickets, hotel info, etc. — but ONLY if you remember to link them. We’d advise doing this before your trip that way, everything is ready to go once your trip begins. Relatedly, if someone else in your party has ALREADY linked the reservations, you’ll be able to find them in the Family & Friends section of the app.
Having Trouble Timing Lightning Lanes, Virtual Queues, or Dining Reservations?
Whether you’re trying to book Lightning Lanes or advance dining reservations before your trip, or trying to score a coveted virtual queue at EXACTLY 7:00 AM or 1:00 PM on the day of a park trip, trying to score one down to the second is IMPERATIVE. Use a specific counter such as time.is to work down to the millisecond to ensure you can try and lockdown whatever you’re trying to score at the earliest possible time.
The Walt Disney World app is an integral part of the resort experience, but it doesn’t always work. However, there are things you can do to work around these issues. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on planning a Disney trip.
