Welcome to Hollywood Studios! This is the land of stars where YOU get to enter your favorite movies. Ever wondered what movie stars eat? Lucky for you, we tried a restaurant in Hollywood Studios to find out.

We headed to BaseLine Tap House on Grand Avenue, and we’re bringing you a full review so you can decide if you should stop here on your next Disney World visit.
Background
BaseLine Tap House is a small, counter-service restaurant located across from the old Muppets Courtyard, before you enter Galaxy’s Edge. Mobile ordering isn’t available, so you’ll need to head inside and place your order at the counter.

All of their food is premade, so as soon as you order, you’ll be handed all of your food and drinks, and you’ll be on your way. It’s open from 10:30 AM to 9 PM, and although you might see a fairly long line when you arrive, their fast service moves the line through quickly, and we usually don’t wait very long.
Now that we know the details, what does the space look like?
Atmosphere
This spot features a small indoor seating area and a patio with benches and tables for seating. They’re proud of their California brews and wine and offer a few snacks as well. You can find lots of beer on tap, and if you’re looking for a place to relax with a drink, this is the spot.

All are welcome inside and on the patio, so enjoy their bites and alcohol free drinks. Before BaseLine, it was Writer’s Stop, and you can still see references to the restaurant hidden in the decorations on the wall.
All of this sounds so good, we’re ready to eat!
Food & Drinks
We knew we had to try the Bavarian Pretzel for $10. This is a large pretzel with spicy mustard and beer-cheese fondue. The pretzel is good; we honestly found it a little better than the iconic Mickey pretzel. When you need a pretzel and want somewhere to sit down, this would be the place for you.

We thought for beer-cheese that the cheese was pretty good. It’s a pretty big pretzel, and honestly, one that you might consider sharing with others. We also found that the pretzel was very salty.

We also had the California Cheese and Charcuterie Plate for $13. The plate comes with Point Reyes original blue cheese, Mt. Tam Brie, Midnight Moon goat cheese, sopressata salami, sliced bresaola, blueberry compote, onion jam, and bread and butter pickles, served with lavash.

We liked the blue cheese; it was very traditional blue cheese. There was honey, which added some great sweetness. The Gouda and Brie were both good. It was a pretty light brie in terms of its smell. The blueberry compote was a little watery, but the smidge of tartness was good.

For the meat, there was salami with mustard on top, and there was also bresaola. There were two big pieces which were great. The dish also comes with pickles, which we heard chatter about amongst guests who liked it around us.

You can tell that the place is known more for its drinks and less for its food. Not that the food wasn’t great, but more so that the food wasn’t memorable.
For our drink, we tried the Barriliots Strawberry Hibiscus Soda on Tap for $4.99. The drink was on tap, which we thought was really cool. The drink is non-alcoholic, so anyone can have this. This may sound weird, but it tasted like a carbonated DayQuil almost.

We think kids will enjoy this and make them feel like they’re getting a fancy little drink. It tastes like the strawberry fruit snack from the Welch’s fruit snacks, if you know what that is. The drink is pretty sweet, and you can’t really taste the hibiscus. There are better drinks that we would recommend you get before this one.
Magic or Tragic?
BaseLine Tap House needs to be on your list if…
-
- You are looking for a chill, less busy spot. Hollywood Studios is filled with popular dining spots. You’ll probably have an easier, less busy time with this one.
You might want to find another spot if…
-
- You want better food, and you want a more ‘Disney’ focused restaurant. The Baseline Taphouse is known more for its drinks, so there are dining options that are better food-wise. As for the theme, there are lots of other dining spots in Hollywood Studios that are more ‘Disney
Overall, BaseLine Tap House is a reliable dining spot that we find ourselves at time and time again.
