We're Taking Bets on When Disney Will Close This EPCOT Ride For Refurbishment

Some Disney World rides just create a reputation of struggling more than others. We understand some of them, like Rise of the Resistance, considering it’s got so much technology packed inside that 20-minute experience, and we also give a pass to rides that have recently reopened, like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

There are other rides, though, that are now well beyond their “new” trial period, don’t have a wild amount of technology, and yet still continue to have issues, and we’ll be real — sometimes we roll our eyes a little too hard, because like, come on. WE’RE tired too, but we show up to our jobs every day! There’s one ride in particular we’re really eying, and there’s a high chance you already know what it is just because of how often it’s down.

Let’s take a look at wait times from Saturday, June 20th!

Magic Kingdom

We’re surprised to see that TRON Lightcycle / Run only hit a 65 minute wait at the end of the day, as that’s not bad at all for a weekend in the middle of summer! It goes to show that summer may actually not be the most popular time to visit anymore, partially due to the heat, and partially due to the fact that summer also means big storms, like the one that shut down half of the rides in the park for an hour.

Test Track hit a 115 minute wait, very likely due to the fact that the ride was down for five hours throughout the day. We are concerned seeing as it’s one of the rides in the park with the most frequent issues, especially since it only reopened just about a year ago, but hey, as long as it doesn’t break completely, we’re okay.

Avatar Flight of Passage hit a 90 minute wait in the middle of the day, which again, isn’t too bad, but the ride did drop all the way to a 30 minute wait at the end of the day. We know it’s tempting to rope drop this park in the morning and then park hop elsewhere, but if we’re being honest, it may actually be best (in terms of wait times) to wait until the last few hours of the day!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Slinky Dog Dash took back its crown with an 85 minute wait, likely meaning it wasn’t as hot as it could have been in the park — the outdoor queue for that ride is not for the faint of heart! Though, it likely doesn’t help that the ride was closed for three hours earlier in the day, or that Rise of the Resistance was closed for the last two hours of the park day. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again — don’t wait until the end of the day to ride an attraction you’ll be devastated if you don’t get to, because closures like this happen more often than you may think.
