Dear Disney World, Why Are These Rides Always Having Problems?

Yesterday was a VERY interesting day for rides all around Disney World, but maybe not for the reason you’re expecting.

DINOSAUR’s final day of operation is coming up in just a few days, and it’s clear from wait times that the crowds are VERY well aware. However, we also saw a normally well-behaved Magic Kingdom attraction go down basically ALL DAY, and two Hollywood Studios rides decided to compete to see who could have the longest wait while they BOTH had issues. So, yeah, if you were in Disney World yesterday, we hope you were in EPCOT.​

Let’s take a look at wait times from Friday, January 30th, 2026.

Magic Kingdom

TRON Lightcycle / Run hit a 110 minute wait two hours before the park closed, but what really shocked us was how many ride closures there were! The day started out rough with Haunted Mansion, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, and Pirates of the Caribbean all closed, and the latter two remained closed for ANOTHER two hours. Mickey’s PhilharMagic opened the fourth hour of the day…then closed AGAIN for the rest of the day, which was EIGHT hours!

The highest wait time of the day went to Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, when it jumped to a 120 minute wait at the last hour of the day — right after closing for the hour prior! We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again; we don’t recommend waiting to ride an attraction you’ll be DEVASTATED if you miss it towards the end of the day. Some rides may go down and not come back up!

DINOSAUR is approaching its final day of operation, and it’s clear from the wait times that people are getting their last rides in. The attraction hit a 120 minute wait towards the end of the day, which is nearly UNHEARD of. The ride started off the day closed for two hours, which wasn’t great, and then didn’t drop 40 minutes below for the entire rest of the day.

To our surprise, Toy Story Mania and Tower of Terror both TIED at 100 minute waits, but as both rides sat closer to 30-60 minutes for the large majority of the day, we have a feeling this was due to both rides having issues with PARTS of their ride vehicle, so they weren’t working at full capacity.
