Sometimes, making the best choice of which Disney World park to visit means making the worst at the same time.
We’ve talked tirelessly about how low the wait times can be in Magic Kingdom on party nights and how it can be a great day even with abbreviated park hours, but we’ve got a flip side of that coin with a WARNING that no one’s talking about.
We’re constantly planning, researching, and then rearranging our plans to make sure we’re truly maximizing every moment we have on our Disney World vacations. While choosing to AVOID a particular park on a special event night might seem like a good idea (since the parks close early during party nights), we’re going to level with you here. It can also work against you at the same time.
We can totally appreciate wanting to squeeze out the very last bits of value in your ticket to the Disney World parks. At first glance, it may seem like the no-brainer option to visit another park when Magic Kingdom closes at 6PM. But, if you choose to adopt this strategy, you’ll need to know that the other parks may be EXTRA busy.
Because so many people have the same idea, it means the other parks see a rise in wait times, so you may be doing yourself a disservice if you’re not factoring that into your daily plans. Sure, the park hours are longer, but you may be spending that extra time stuck in line.
For instance, on December 1st, Frozen Ever After crept up to an almost 2-hour wait in EPCOT, which had the highest wait time throughout the day, and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure was closely behind.
Over in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the attractions and rides are equally as limited, so in addition to elevated wait times across the board, you would have waited a whopping 85 minutes in the afternoon to ride Na’vi River Journey, a slow-moving (yet, spectacular) boat ride.
It just goes to show you that if you’re going to be visiting Disney World during special events, you’ll want to account for extra crowds throughout your day. Let’s take a look at what the wait times were like on December 1st in Disney World!
