Heads up moms (and dads, and other caregivers), if you’re going to have a stroller on your next trip to Disney World, there are some “rules” you need to be aware of.

Pushing a stroller through Disney’s theme parks is not easy. Between having to be aware of other guests and the children within, plus any belongings attached to it, it can all be a bit overwhelming. Following these unwritten “rules” can definitely help.
Don’t Go Flimsy
Let’s start with what kind of stroller you’re using. Specifically, you don’t want to use a flimsy umbrella-style stroller. Go for something heavier and more stable.

Note: If you don’t want to buy a heavy stroller to lug through the airport, you can bring a flimsy model for that, and rent a stroller — either at Disney’s parks (which can only be used within the parks and needs to be returned at the end of the day) or from a third-party company that can rent you one for your whole trip — when you arrive in Orlando.
Transportation Folding
Whether you bring your own stroller or rent from a third party, be prepared to fold your stroller on the majority of Disney Transportation offerings, including on buses and the majority of boats on property.

Security Scan
Once you arrive at one of Disney’s theme parks, be ready to have your stroller go through the security scanner, usually separately from the child.

Cast Members Will Move It
Be aware that strollers may be moved by Cast Members while you’re in a queue/on a ride, even if you parked it in an official spot before joining the line. We’d advise attaching an identifying element like a colored ribbon to your stroller so you can find it in a crowd, especially if you’re renting a stroller, and in turn looking for one identical to every other Disney stroller.

No Open Food
If leaving your stroller unattended, or simply stopping in place, we’d advise not having open snacks or other open food in your stroller. Disney World’s squirrels WILL find it. Trust us.

Look Out For Valuables
This one may seem like “common sense” to some, but we’d advise keeping an eye on your valuables, and don’t leave them unattended in your stroller. This doesn’t only apply to financial valuables either, but sentimental ones as well, as the litany of parents who’ve dealt with crying children who’ve lost their treasured baby blanket or stuffed animal can attest.

Be Aware of Your Surroundings
Disney World is very crowded, and if you’re pushing a stroller, you need to be aware of other people around you.

If you’re traveling with a stroller during your next Disney World vacation, you absolutely need to keep these rules in mind. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on the unwritten “rules” of Disney theme parks.
