Since Disney’s Hollywood Studios has opened again, guests of all ages have been ready to become a Rebel again over at Rise of the Resistance.
The attraction is currently operating with a modified Virtual Queue where Boarding Groups will be given out at 10AM, 1PM, and 4PM. However, when we originally went to the park on opening day, we found that passes were taken up within a few minutes of the queue window going live.
But, today, we encountered a different kind of problem when we attempted to join the queue. When we tried to grab a Boarding Group for Rise of the Resistance at 10 AM through our My Disney Experience app, we weren’t able to choose our own name to ride the attraction.
Instead, we were shown our entire family and friends list without our name being on there. By the time we logged out and logged back in, the entire boarding group had been picked up.
When we exited and re-entered the queue page again, the Boarding Groups for the window were all gone. We immediately went to talk to a Guest Relations team stationed in front of the attraction to find out what we should do next.
After showing our Guest Relations Cast Member screenshots of the issue we had on My Disney Experience, she told us she could still give us a Boarding Group. However, we told her that we would try again at 1PM to see if there happened to be any changes. The Cast Member made a note in My Disney Experience in case the problem persisted, so we could still get a Boarding Group later on.
When we tried to join at 1 PM, the same issue occurred, so we went back to Guest Relations to get a Boarding Group number. While problems like this may not have a solution every time, we highly suggest ALWAYS taking screenshots of your issues and talking to Guest Relations. They may be able to help you get a Boarding Group, but you must have proof in order to grab a spot.
Although we’re not sure if this problem will keep persisting, we will continue to keep you updated on everything happening in the newly reopened Hollywood Studios!

The Force Strikes Out Twice. Went to Hollywood Studios twice. First time tired to join the Virtual Queque for the Rise of the Resistance and was assigned a “backup group” that was never called. Two week later we tried for a second time. We went to the park and arrived 7 minutes before opening. We were turned around near the gate. But once we got in we sat on the app for 30 minutes before the virtual queque sign up time. At the very second the we were allowed to join the queque was already full so we would have to wait 5 hours to try again. We left the park of course and went to Universal Studios which had no reservations, no virtual queques and no problems at all. All of this hassle at Disney after we spent one month trying to get Disney to fix our annual passes. Finally after one month the annual passes were fixed. Not one hour but one month to fix our annual passes.
This happened to me back in March before the shutdown! I got a boarding group, but I wasn’t included! Rather than leave and try again, I was just going to let everyone else ride. My wife and daughter said “no, let’s get in line and show the cast member”, which we did and they noted the problem in a bug report and added me to the existing boarding group.
Is it automatically including you? Just wondering because it says Is Anyone ELSE joining you? I took that as it was already including you.
I thought the same thing right?
I wanna know how this program is written , the algorithms for the queque program appear to be shady….and you can’t even get to a “boarding window”, we did it right at 7:00 am and the boardings WERE ALREADY BOOKED for that opening??????? Now what happens if you can’t get in at 1:00 PM…someone has gotten into the program and has booked all the spots…..Disney needs to do a better job of making sure everyone who has PRE PURCHASED tickets TO get in the queue to ride.
