We talk a lot about the importance of rope drop when it comes to getting shorter lines for rides in Disney World. In most cases, the early bird seriously does end up getting the worm (or in this case, gets a ride on a popular attraction with a short wait).
However, not all rides are created equal, and some are not worth the time to rope drop them because their wait times are at their highest at the beginning of the day. One such ride is Flight of Passage in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
The problem with rope dropping Flight of Passage is that everyone visiting Animal Kingdom seems to have the same idea. This means that the line is generally long when the park opens. For example, when Animal Kingdom opened yesterday, Flight of Passage already had a 70-minute wait. Rope dropping really doesn’t save you a lot of time at this ride.
The wait time for the ride tends to remain long throughout most of the day, but then it starts to drop around late afternoon. By the time the park closes, you could find a wait of as little as a half hour or less (we’ve even seen it at 15 minutes). So instead of rope dropping Flight of Passage, you could just wait until park close to ride it instead. Of course, you can always purchase Lightning Lane Single Pass, but why spend money if you don’t have to?
