The 9 AM Magic Kingdom Habit Disney Experts Practice

After months of planning, you’re finally in Disney World, and you’re ready to visit Magic Kingdom. Now, we know what we almost always tell you: You should always consider rope dropping Magic Kingdom (or using Early Theme Park Entry if you qualify).

Okay, so that’s easier said than done, but if you can get to Magic Kingdom by a certain time, you’ll still be able to see low wait times for most rides. ​

Rope dropping means getting to the parks AHEAD of their opening time. Disney will generally let guests into the parks about a half hour before official opening, so that gets you to the actual ropes that Disney uses to keep the lands off-limits until the park officially opens. But you don’t have to do that in Magic Kingdom. Instead, if you make it to Magic Kingdom around 9 AM (when the park officially opens) up to around 11 AM, you’ll still see pretty low ride wait times.

For example, most ride wait times were under 30 minutes yesterday between 9 AM and 11 AM. So if you’re the kind to sleep in, that might work better for you. However, if you DO get to the parks for rope drop or Early Theme Park Entry, you’ll manage to knock out a lot more rides before lunch, but that’s on you.
