It Might Sound Weird, but I Use This Shortcut All the Time in Disney World

There are some things that just take a long time no matter what you do in Disney World. There’s no way to speed up the line for Starbucks in Magic Kingdom. We can’t wave a wand and make the bus get here faster.

The good news is that there are a few shortcuts that can really come in handy when you’re in a rush in Disney World! Let’s talk about them!

We track the wait times in Disney World every day to help you plan a better trip to Disney World. Looking at the wait times on January 3rd, for example, you might notice that rides like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Frozen Ever After posted some LONG wait times throughout the day. How can you avoid it?

Step one is to head to the My Disney Experience app! Now, you can get a real-time look at the wait times for any park by clicking the map icon. But everyone knows that. We have a faster way to find the best time to hop in line! Our shortcut has two parts. First, when we’re in a rush, we like to use a nifty little Apple keyboard trick to get to a specific ride or restaurant quicker. Instead of typing “Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure” in the search bar, we type “RRA,” and our keyboard automatically replaces that acronym with “Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.” MAGIC!

This works with anything! If you want to quickly search for a Cake Bake Shop Restaurant reservation, you could create a keyboard shortcut so that “CBSR” updates to “Cake Bake Shop Restaurant.” To make your own shortcuts:

• Open Settings
• Select General
• Select Keyboard
• Select Text Replacement
• Tap the + button
• Enter the phrase to replace in the Phrase field
• Enter the shortcut to use in the Shortcut field
• Tap Save

You will need an iPhone or an iOS device to use this trick!

Now for part two of our shortcut! Once we quickly navigate to a ride or restaurant, we can see the forecasted wait times for those popular attractions. Frozen Ever After, for example, will likely be busy around 6 PM, then the wait may drop by 7 PM.
