4 BIG Reasons to Visit Disney World in 2022

Disney World doesn’t look anything like it used to…and it’s still going through plenty of changes now!

EPCOT

Along with the health and safety measures now in place, the parks are constantly seeing reopenings and new additions. Although we can’t WAIT for the next time we get to head to Disney World, there are 4 reasons why you might actually want to hold off on your next trip until 2022!

Many Attractions Won’t Be Opening

Disney’s got a long list of projects that it’s pursuing all across the property. While Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will open and La Crêperie de Paris will be opening this year, many of the upcoming plans for restaurants, attractions, and more won’t be completed in 2021.

Disney has already stated that the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel won’t be opening until next year as it undergoes a few delays. Other opening dates for projects including the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, TRON Lightcycle Power Run, Space 220 restaurant, Play Pavilion, and more have been up in the air.

It’s the Halcyon!

Hopefully, we’ll see many of these projects make their debut in 2022 after seeing the progress that Disney has made on many of them.

Construction is Everywhere

Since there are a hefty amount of projects lined up, there’s also so much construction everywhere you look. It can be a bit difficult to navigate at times, especially in EPCOT, where the entire park is undergoing a transformation. So, that means your family photos could have various signs, cranes, and beams, depending on where you’re visiting!

But, we will say that some of the designs on the construction walls can be super cute to pose in front of for Instagram. 😉

Suspended Experiences

Along with the experiences to come, Disney World has suspended well-known features of the parks as health and safety precautions. That means you can’t watch parades as you once knew them (with the alternate character cavalcades available instead)…

…and watch fireworks as they’ve been suspended (but there are a few hints they could be returning soon!).

Fireworks in Magic Kingdom

Many forms of live entertainment are currently missing as well, like the morning shows in front of Cinderella Castle. However, The Festival of the Lion King has just reopened in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, so this could be a sign that additional shows could open once again in the parks.

What’s Up, Simba?

Disney has stated that they plan to go all out for their 50th anniversary, once it kicks off on October 1st. While there haven’t been any major updates about these suspended experiences, 2022 could be the year they are possibly reinstated, which would open up more entertainment opportunities across the parks. Of course, we’ll have to keep you updated how everything unfolds moving forward!

Closed Restaurants, Hotels, and Parks

There are also numerous closed areas around Disney World, and some are even fan-favorite locations. Hotels like Disney’s Port Orleans Resort and the entirety of the Typhoon Lagoon water park have remained empty for over a year now. Plus, restaurants like ‘Ohana, Casey’s Corner, and Boma haven’t welcomed guests back just yet, even though Disney World has been regularly reinstating operations at various dining locations.

While these may be reasons to hold off on visiting in 2021, next year is about to bring some great perks as well! Some of these projects, like the Galactic Starcruiser, are slated to open. And, the closed areas around Disney World could see 2022 reopenings (although we aren’t entirely sure yet).

Baby, come back!

While Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebrations will begin this October, they will last over the course of 18 months. This means that they will be going on all throughout 2022, as well as partially into 2023, instead of just the few months at the end of this year after the festivities start in October.

When planning your trip, it’s important to think about what elements of the parks your party is looking forward to taking part in during your visit! It’s good to keep all of those in mind when deciding exactly hone to plan your Disney trip. As more updates make their way into Disney World, we’ll be sure to provide you with all the details you need to know!
