Disney World is No Longer Empty, And We Have Proof

For weeks this summer, we’ve seen one Disney World park seem nearly empty.

Okay, yes, not literally, but based on such low wait times, we had been wondering where everyone was. As it turns out, it looks like the crowds have been waiting to hit Disney World until this second half of many people’s summer vacation. If you were hoping to hit those really low wait times in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, this is your warning that finding them is a lot harder now.

Let’s take a look at wait times from Saturday, July 18th!

Magic Kingdom

Thanks to a few unexpected closures, one of them due to rain, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure had the highest wait time of 85 minutes, though TRON wasn’t far behind. Numerous rides had small closures throughout the day, but since they all were only about an hour long, they didn’t affect the other wait times too drastically.

Test Track hit a 125 minute wait towards the end of the day after having multiple closures. Multiple rides struggled decently throughout the day, which didn’t help with those higher wait times. About half of the rides in this park are highly sought after, so when one of them goes down, the others usually jump up pretty dramatically.

The days of the super low wait times for Avatar Flight of Passage at the very end of the day seem to be over, but we still do suggest waiting until later in the day if you want lower wait times (though remember, rides can go down at any time). Yesterday’s high wait time was 70 minutes for Flight of Passage twice, which isn’t too bad, but it definitely shows us that crowds have picked up in this park.

Rise of the Resistance and Slinky Dog Dash tied at a 90 minute wait, though that was largely due to the fact that Rise of the Resistance closed for three hours throughout the day. Even during the heat of summer, the outdoor line of Slinky Dog Dash is usually pretty long, so we recommend riding in the morning or evening to avoid the worst of the sun.
