Disney World really is the most magical place on Earth.

But even though the magic is there, sometimes you’ve got a worst fear that just decides to make an appearance. To that point, if you’ve got a phobia and you’re planning your next trip to Disney World, we’re here to help! You tell us your phobia and we’ll tell you which rides to avoid. Let’s dive in!
Claustrophobia (Fear of Small Spaces)
If the thought of being stuck in a small, enclosed space makes your palms sweaty, you’ll want to steer clear of Spaceship Earth and Mission: SPACE. These rides involve tight quarters and very little personal space. Spaceship Earth is basically a giant ball where you’ll slowly ascend in a dark, confined space. Mission: SPACE? Think enclosed capsule with no way out once you’re strapped in. Yeah, these might need to be hard passes for you.
-
- Avoid: Spaceship Earth, Mission: SPACE

Emetophobia (Fear of Vomiting)
If spinning rides have you visualizing your lunch in reverse, you might want to bypass any of the attractions that whirls, twirls, or spins. The Mad Tea Party is infamous for this, but let’s not forget about Mission: SPACE and Alien Swirling Saucers. Basically anything that spins will pretty much be a no-go.
-
- Avoid: Mad Tea Party, Mission: SPACE, Alien Swirling Saucers

Submechanophobia (Fear of Submerged Man-Made Objects)
Do man-made objects submerged in water give you the creeps? Then Disney’s ocean-themed attractions are going to be your worst nightmare. The Seas with Nemo & Friends and the entire Seas Pavilion feature all sorts of underwater tech, which might just send your anxiety swimming.
-
- Avoid: The Seas with Nemo & Friends, The Seas Pavilion

Entomophobia (Fear of Bugs)
For those who can’t stand creepy-crawlies, Disney’s It’s Tough to be a Bug! might be a horror show. This 3D experience will have bugs crawling on you (or at least it feels that way), which will be way too close for comfort.
-
- Avoid: It’s Tough to be a Bug!

Acrophobia (Fear of Heights)
If being high up makes your legs turn to jelly, you might want to skip the Astro Orbiter and the Skyliner. Both of them involve being way up in the sky with nothing but your courage to hold you steady.
-
- Avoid: Astro Orbiter, Skyliner

Triskaidekaphobia (Fear of the Number 13)
Now, this one might sound niche, but if the number 13 gives you the jitters, beware the Tower of Terror and the Haunted Mansion when they’re practically walk-ons with a 13-minute wait time. The number is a common “warning” on these “spooky” rides.
-
- Avoid: Tower of Terror, Haunted Mansion

Aerophobia (Fear of Flying)
Listen, not everyone is born to soar, and if flying is your kryptonite, Soarin’ and Avatar Flight of Passage will definitely take you out of your comfort zone. They both simulate flying. While they’re both fan favorites, they can be intense.
-
- Avoid: Soarin’, Avatar Flight of Passage

Nyctophobia (Fear of Darkness)
For those who aren’t too fond of the dark, Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion are not going to be your friends. Both of these rides are notoriously dimly lit, with lots of dark corners hiding who-knows-what.
-
- Avoid: Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion

Siderodromophobia (Fear of Trains or Railroads)
If trains make you uneasy, you’ll want to steer clear of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and the Walt Disney World Railroad. The “clickety-clack” of those tracks might just be too much to handle.
-
- Avoid: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Walt Disney World Railroad

Automatonophobia (Fear of Animatronics)
If life-like robots make your skin crawl, you’ll want to be wary of rides like Pirates of the Caribbean, The American Adventure, and Hall of Presidents. These rides are packed with animatronics that are just a little too real.
-
- Avoid: Pirates of the Caribbean, The American Adventure, Hall of Presidents

Aquaphobia (Fear of Water)
Disney World is filled with water attractions, but if getting drenched isn’t your thing, avoid Kali River Rapids, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, and even those seemingly innocent ferryboats.
-
- Avoid: Kali River Rapids, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, Ferryboats

Pupaphobia (Fear of Puppets)
Muppet*Vision 3D might be a fun nostalgia trip for some, but if puppets give you the creeps, you’ll want to steer clear. The Muppets are larger than life, and that’s not always a good thing.
-
- Avoid: Muppet*Vision 3D

Musophobia (Fear of Mice/Rats)
Ironically, the house of mouse is not the best spot for those who fear rodents. You’ll want to avoid Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure if you want to keep your sanity intact.
-
- Avoid: Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

No matter what your phobia, Disney World could have a ride that might just push your buttons, but forewarned is forearmed, right? So, make sure to plan ahead, so that way you can enjoy the magic without any of the nightmares.
