Why Rope Drop Isn’t Always a Safe Bet at Disney World

Picture this: You’ve woken up early and made it to your Disney World park of choice for rope drop and are lined up, waiting to head in.

The rope drops, and you make a beeline for your favorite ride only to find out that — OH NO! — it’s temporarily closed. That’s exactly what happened to folks who tried to rope drop Disney World recently — but we’re sharing our BEST tips to prevent it.

Our top tips for avoiding long lines without spending any extra money are to rope drop the parks (get there right when — or before — they open), get in line during meal times or parades and fireworks, or wait until people start leaving for the night!

You can also take advantage of things like Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours, depending on which Disney hotel you’re staying at. These offerings allow hotel guests to get a little extra time in the parks before everyone else gets there.

And, you can always take advantage of Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Single Pass (and the new Premier Pass!) These are skip-the-line services that allow you to bypass the standby lines at popular Disney World rides.
