We Could Not Have Predicted These Crowds in Disney World

Well, if there’s one thing we can usually expect from summer in Disney World, it’s LOTS of crowds. You can imagine our surprise, then, when we’ve looked at wait times recently and gone, “…where is everyone?”

To be clear, this isn’t in every park, or with every ride, as some are certainly much busier than others throughout nearly the whole day. However, when it comes to these two parks, one of them appears to be EMPTY in the evenings despite having an all-new attraction, and the other is proving to be VERY hard to track.

Let’s take a look at wait times from Monday, June 15th.

Magic Kingdom

Wait times were relatively low in Magic Kingdom all day, with TRON Lightcycle / Run only hitting a 70 minute wait in the last two hours of the day. While there were numerous ride closures throughout the day, most of them were spread out, and the only attraction with more than a one hour closure was Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, which only closed for two hours. Not bad, Magic Kingdom, not bad!

Epcot

Test Track had the highest wait time of 120 minutes, despite only closing for one hour earlier in the day. Spaceship Earth, however, was closed for the last four hours of the park day, which isn’t great. This ride WAS supposed to get a massive refurbishment/overhaul, but it appears that plan has been scrapped. Disney, it may be time to bring that back.

Avatar Flight of Passage had the highest wait of 90 minutes, which isn’t shocking, but the last two hours of the park day, it wasn’t over 30 minutes!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Wait times in Hollywood Studios were also fantastic, as the highest wait went to Slinky Dog Dash at 70 minutes. For the park with some of the most intense attractions that are great for thrill-seekers, that’s a real score. This park does seem to be the most up in the air when it comes to crowd levels, so you’ll want to have multiple plans to make sure you make the most of your day.
