Since June 2020 when the first resorts reopened, it has been a slow process of returning Walt Disney World to normal.

After that, the parks reopened, followed by most restaurants and more hotels over the course of several months. We’re still not entirely back to the way things used to be, but by the end of the year, the Disney Resort situation is going to be a lot better!
Disney has recently announced several reopening dates for the resorts that have been MIA for more than a year. Before 2021 is over, every Disney World resort is going to be open for business again, which means we’ll have a LOT more choices for places to stay! Let’s break down those reopening details, so you know exactly where you can book your vacation and when.

Resorts That Are Already Open

Now Let’s Discuss Those That Recently Reopened And Those Coming Soon!
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort reopened on July 19th, 2021. The villas had been available at this resort for quite some time, but the standard rooms went through an extensive refurbishment to fit a new Moana theme!

We got the chance to stay in one of those rooms and do a full room tour, and we were very impressed. And with the reopening of the standard rooms, several restaurants came back as well, including Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, Kona Island, and the ever-popular ‘Ohana. There’s so much to do and see at the Polynesian now!
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge & Animal Kingdom Villas — Jambo House
Next up on the reopening schedule is Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, along with the villas at the Jambo House section of the resort. The Kidani Village section has been opened for quite some time, but we’re ready to see the spectacular main lobby filled with life again, starting on August 26th!

Disney hasn’t announced many details on this resort’s reopening yet, but we’re hoping to hear more information about Boma and Jiko, two of our favorite restaurants. These two spots have been closed at the resort since the shutdown, and if the rest of the resort is reopening, we hope they do too!
Disney’s All-Star Music Resort & All-Star Sports Resort
And if you’ve been waiting for more affordable hotel options to reopen, then you’re in luck! Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort is already back up and running, but its sister resorts — the All-Star Sports and All-Star Music — are reopening soon.

Bookings are now open for All-Star Music beginning on September 16th and All-Star Sports beginning on December 9th. These resorts are a great way to save some money without skimping on the Disney magic!
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside & Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter
And by far the most asked-about resorts here at AllEars are the Port Orleans resorts! We’ve been getting questions from SO MANY readers who are ready to be back here, and good news — your bayou dreams can soon come true! Riverside opens on October 14th and French Quarter comes back two weeks later on the 28th.

These two hotels are home to some delicious dining options and stunning theming, so we hope that we get to experience all that they normally have to offer this fall. We’ll make sure to update you with more Port Orleans announcements as they come!

Throughout the coming months, make sure to stay tuned to AllEars. We’ll be at the grand reopening of each resort, sharing the details and important information that you need to know. We can’t wait to have Disney World’s resorts fully reopened again!
