PHOTOS: First Look at Disney’s Newly Reopened Polynesian Village Resort!

Today’s a great day because Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has officially opened to ALL guests!

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Originally, the villas in the resort were only open to Disney Vacation Club Members. However, any visitor could stop by the hotel to visit spots like ‘Ohana and Kona Island before heading to the Magic Kingdom or the other nearby resorts. Today, though, all guests are able to stay in the newly refurbished rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort!

Entrance

Even with Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort reopening, not every part of the resort is currently available and we stumbled upon the first sign of remaining construction when we arrived at the resort to check-in.

At this time, the front entrance to the Grand Ceremonial House and monorail station are still closed as Disney continues construction, but there’s plenty of signage to help direct you to the side entrance to the lobby.

But, the walk is definitely filled with some construction!

Dining Locations

But, there is still a lot that has reopened in the resort!

Many of the dining locations had previously reopened here including Capt. Cook’s (the Quick Service option), Kona Cafe, Tambu Lounge, and ‘Ohana, but now there’s even MORE to enjoy!

As of today, both Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto and Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace (which serves the same menu outside) have reopened and will open from 3PM to midnight daily!

  1. Not a fan of the hard wood floors…not kind to achy feet at the end of the day and more slippery in terms of falls after showering. But not like they asked me!

  2. We are counting the days..52 as of today till we see the updated Polynesian. Will share our adventure when we are there.

  3. I have never stayed at the Polynesian, but I really, really want to sometime in the near future!!!!😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎

  4. We are getting a room with a king sized bed and day bed. I found a video on youtube. WDW site is still not showing this type of room. Very excited about our next trip. We are hoping the construction will be done. The last time we were there during Hurricane Sandy they had some refurb going on. It would be nice to see the Polynesian with no barriers and no heavy equipment.
