Disney World has gone through a LOT of changes recently. From new rides and restaurants to 50th Anniversary celebrations, the parks look very different now than they did a couple of years ago.

Usually, the changes at Disney World’s parks require some attractions to close for a bit while updates are made. And some attractions have simply remained unavailable after the pandemic closure in 2020. We’ve pulled together a list of all the rides, attractions, and more that are scheduled to be closed this week in Disney World so that you’re not caught off guard during your upcoming trip!
Magic Kingdom Closures
Walt Disney World Railroad
The Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for YEARS in Magic Kingdom, and its closure will continue through this week. Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date for this ride yet.

We’ve seen some signs that the Railroad could reopen sooner rather than later, such as train testing and Cast Member training. However, construction over in Tomorrowland on the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run coaster has interrupted the tracks, so it’s unlikely that the Railroad will reopen before the coaster is finished.

Disney has not announced when TRON: Lightcycle Run will open.
Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.
The TRON construction has also affected Space Mountain’s gift shop: Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.

Because of the construction, guests are being directed to exit Space Mountain a different way instead of walking through the shop after the ride. This shop is scheduled to remain closed at least through the beginning of October, which is as far as Disney’s refurbishment calendar goes.
Enchanted Tales with Belle
Enchanted Tales with Belle is an attraction where guests can help Belle tell the story of Beauty and the Beast.

Unfortunately, this attraction is still closed (it has been unavailable for a long time now), and Disney hasn’t shared any updates about its potential reopening.
Pete’s Silly Sideshow
In Storybook Circus, guests will find Pete’s Silly Sideshow. In the past, you could meet Minnie, Daisy, Donald, and Goofy here. Right now, however, this spot is closed. Disney has said that it will reopen sometime “in the coming months.”

There are plenty of other characters to meet in this park, like Mickey, Peter Pan, Merida, and Cinderella’s Evil Stepsisters.
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is reopening this month in Magic Kingdom! It’s scheduled to open its doors on August 25th.

Note that Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutiques at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort or Disney Springs — the August reopening is just for the Magic Kingdom location.
Times are CHANGING for the Cinderella Castle Show in Magic Kingdom.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Closures
Fantasmic!
This popular nighttime show is still closed in Hollywood Studios right now, but Disney has promised that it’ll reopen sometime this year.

When it returns, Fantasmic! will have some updates to the show, including new effects, characters, and stunts.
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Voyage of the Little Mermaid has been closed for a long time in this park, and it still doesn’t have a reopening date.

Disney hasn’t given any update about the Voyage of the Little Mermaid, so we don’t know when or if it’ll return. In the meantime, you can find a Little Mermaid-themed attraction at Magic Kingdom: Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid.

EPCOT Closures
Canada Far & Wide in CircleVision 360
This movie attraction is currently closed, but it’s open at the same time. Let us explain. Right now, EPCOT is hosting the 2022 Food & Wine Festival. As part of the festival, the Appleseed Orchard booth has taken over the theater where Canada Far & Wide usually plays.

Instead of watching the movie, you can get an apple crumble tart or try an apple-flavored drink. We’re expecting Canada Far & Wide to reopen once the festival ends on November 19th.

Disney Water Park Refurbishments
Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park
One of Disney World’s water parks is currently closed: Blizzard Beach Water Park. Disney hasn’t announced an opening date or timeline for this park.

However, the OTHER Disney World water park, Typhoon Lagoon, is still open for guests to enjoy.

If you’re hoping to get on a lot of rides in Disney World, you may want to consider buying Genie+. For $15 per person, per day, you can make Lightning Lane reservations to skip the standby line at many Disney World rides.

Note that some of the most popular rides are not included in Genie+: Avatar Flight of Passage, Star War: Rise of the Resistance, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind are all Individual Lighting Lanes instead. That means you’ll have to pay a separate fee per person in order to skip the line at these rides.
