After seeing the virtual queue fill up in seconds, we had to sit down and go over all our best tips to maximize your chances to enter the Cosmic Rewind virtual queue. Let’s get into it!

Be Prepared

One of the most important things to do before trying to get into the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind virtual queue is PREPARE. There are several things you need to do before you can actually enter the virtual queue.

Most importantly, you must have valid admission (a ticket or an Annual Pass) and an EPCOT park reservation for that day. Also, it doesn’t hurt to know who in your party wants to ride – and who doesn’t. You want to make sure to have your party settled well before the virtual queue opens!

KNOW the My Disney Experience App

If you have the My Disney Experience app on your phone but you’re not logged in, you won’t be able to enter the virtual queue. You must have your tickets or annual pass synced!

Make sure everyone in your party is linked to your account. Did you already settle on who wants to enter the virtual queue? Great! Now make sure everyone is linked to your account. In the app, you can do this via a linking code.

Know where to go for the virtual queue in the app! Usually, you just need to scroll down slightly on the main page to find the spot to join.

As we said above, you can verify your party for the virtual queue BEFORE the queue opens, so don’t wait until the queue is open to confirm! Also, double and triple check that your party is accurate.

Depending on where you’re staying, you might also want to make sure your Disney World hotel reservations are synced. This is necessary if you’re staying in a deluxe hotel on an Extended Evening Hours EPCOT date, during which you can enter the virtual queue at 6PM.

If you’re not staying at a deluxe hotel but you want to buy the Individual Lightning Lane, Disney hotel guests can purchase the Lightning Lane beginning at 7AM.

In our experience, the Lightning Lane has been selling out before park opening, which means guests not staying in Disney hotels have been missing out on the option to purchase it. All things considered, you have options — just make sure your mind is made up the night before.

Set Alarms

The virtual queue opens daily at 7AM (which you can join from anywhere as long as you have valid admission and an EPCOT reservation) and 1PM (which you can only join from inside EPCOT). Whether it’s first thing in the morning for you or in the middle of a busy park day, we have three words for you (and we say this with love): SET AN ALARM.

And we don’t mean that you should set an alarm for 6:59AM. You need time to open the app, get to the virtual queue screen, and confirm your party. And maybe grab a coffee! However long you need, set your alarm before the virtual queue opens.

Securing the Virtual Queue

So now you’re ready for the virtual queue, but are you fast enough? We recommend having someone watch the secondhand on their clock and help you count down so you can keep the virtual queue screen open on your phone. You can swipe down to refresh the screen or hit “refresh,” which you should try to start doing around 6:59AM or 12:59PM.

The most important thing you must NOT do is HESITATE. Every microsecond counts, and if you hesitate, you could miss out. We have typically seen the virtual queue fill up in 30 seconds or less. In fact, on some occasions, we’ve even seen it fill up in less than 1 second. 😳

The name of the game is fast fingers. As soon as the virtual queue pops up, don’t think — just click fast!

Have a Backup Plan

If you miss out on the 7AM virtual queue, don’t panic! You still have options. Remember you still have the 1PM virtual queue, which tends to be slightly easier (from what we’ve experienced) to get into. You must be in EPCOT before 1PM to enter the queue, which means you can’t rely on park hopping to EPCOT. Remember, you can’t park hop until after 2PM.

If you’re opting for the 1PM virtual queue, you might want to plan on a later night in EPCOT because your return time could be late.

Also, remember the 6PM option if you’re staying at a Disney World deluxe hotel and they have Extended Evening Hours in EPCOT that night. This might also make you consider staying in a deluxe hotel!

We’ve heard about potential glitches for the 6PM queue involving the app not showing everyone in your party. If that happens to you, get in the virtual queue for whoever is showing and then visit Guest Relations to get that fixed up. Your mileage may vary though, so keep that in mind!

And as we noted above, if you’re staying in a Disney World hotel you can purchase the Individual Lightning Lane at 7AM. From what we’ve seen, this Lightning Lane has been filling up fast, but it’s still possible that times could pop up throughout the day. Keep checking the app!
