We love to talk about all the new attractions, shows, and events happening in Disney World, but what about those attractions that aren’t running? They deserve some attention, too! It’s a new week, and that means it’s time for a new weekly refurbishment update.

Planning a trip to Disney World during the first week of March? You’ve come to the right place! Let’s take a look at everything that will be unavailable in Disney World from February 28th to March 6th, 2022.
Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
Walt Disney World Railroad
It’s been a long time since the Walt Disney World Railroad in the Magic Kingdom has traveled around the park, and the closure is expected to continue this week! Disney is working on a big project (A.K.A. the new TRON roller coaster) but that construction is preventing the train from running. (The train goes right through the construction zone!)

Until Disney shares some news about the opening date of TRON: Lightcycle Run, the train will have to stay at the station. Fingers crossed that we hear some good news soon!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Refurbishments
Expedition Everest
Over in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Expedition Everest — Legend of the Forbidden Mountain is closed for an extended refurbishment. On January 4th, the attraction closed for a 3-month refurbishment. Now that it’s March, we’re one month closer to the reopening date!

Disney stated that this attraction will remain closed through mid-April 2022. Back in February, we spotted some attraction vehicle testing, so hopefully, the construction is on the right track for a swift reopening.

EPCOT Refurbishments
Souk-Al-Magreb
The Souk-Al-Magreb gift shop that is located in the Morocco pavilion in the EPCOT World Showcase is closed. This store was set to reopen back on February 6th, but the store is still closed with no reopening date currently listed.

We’ll keep our eyes out for a reopening date, though, so stay tuned for an update!
Disney World Water Park Refurbishments
Blizzard Beach Waterpark
Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is closed for seasonal refurbishments.

The good news is that Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is open! We’re still waiting on a reopening date for Blizzard Beach, but for now, you can hit your hotel pool or visit Disney’s other water park!

Disney Resorts
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
On March 1st, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort will begin a large refurbishment project.

During this refurbishment, Disney stated that guests may see and hear active construction during the day. The Disney website states that most hotel amenities will remain available throughout the construction project.

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort
The Grandstand Leisure Pool at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort is closed through mid-March 2022. The closure started on February 14th, and currently, there is no exact reopening date listed.

The other two other pools at Saratoga Springs (the High Rock Spring Pool and the Paddock Pool) are still open.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
There will be a few closures coming up at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. From February 7 through mid-March, the Schoolyard Splashground near the Big Blue pool will be closed for refurbishment.

When the Flippin’ Fins Pool reopens in late February 2022, the Cozy Cone Pool will close for refurbishment through mid-April 2022. At that time, The Big Blue Pool and Flippin’ Fins Pool will be open.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
The Samawati Springs Pool at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village remains closed as Imagineers continue their routine refurbishment.

The closure is expected to last until April 2022. In the meantime, the Uzima Springs Pool at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – Jambo House is still open.
