In case you missed it, Soarin’ Across America is about to take flight!

The newest iteration of the attraction launches on May 26th, but we got to check it out EARLY! Now we’re sharing the 6 things you need to know before you take flight.
To celebrate America’s 250th birthday, Disney has created Soarin’ Across America. The brand new attraction is coming to EPCOT in just a few days and Disney California Adventure on July 2nd. We got to check out the new attraction thanks to previews, and we have some strong thoughts. Be warned, there are spoilers ahead. First, there are some nods to previous versions of the ride!

The music in the attraction starts with a similar melody to the music from Soarin’ Over California. It starts with the same melody and then goes into a new theme for this version of the ride, but we loved hearing those few familiar notes. They also have a scene where a seagull soars across the screen, which we believe is a nod to Soarin’ Around the World! Those little Easter Eggs were a fun way to pay homage to previous versions of the ride.

Second, the preshow has changed! Chief flight attendant Patrick has become Captain Patrick, and he welcomes you to a special iteration of the ride. Then he sends it off to the younger version of himself for the classic safety instructions. It isn’t a huge change, but it is a very cute update.

Third, there definitely is a best seat if you can manage it! If you’ve ever been on the ride, you might know that row B1 is the best spot because it takes you front and center. We rode the attraction a few times, and this was definitely the spot to be in. It meant no feet, great views, and optimal immersion as you soar across the country. That being said, no seat is particularly bad.

Four, there isn’t a serious “bend” scene as far as we know! In Soarin’ Around the World, the scene through Paris became a Disney joke (lovingly) because the Eiffel Tower was so distorted along the curved screen. Disney later updated it so it wouldn’t be as egregious on the ride. Disney must’ve taken extra care to avoid any “meme” worthy moments in Soarin’ Across America.

Five, you might not see your favorite U.S. landmark! There are SO many amazing American landmarks, so Disney couldn’t fit them all in just a few minutes. You can see sights like the Statue of Liberty, the Grand Canyon, the Washington Monument, and more. It also ends in EPCOT, which is one of our favorite landmarks. That being said, they couldn’t show ALL of America.

Finally, the scents still stand out! Throughout the attraction, there are different scents that we love, but these won’t be for everyone. We smelled grass in the prairie, a floral scent in Hawaii, and a swamp water smell in Louisiana. The grass remains one of our favorite smells because it’s so fresh and earthy. The floral scent was faint but sweet. If you don’t love a flowery smell, it might not be your favorite. The only smell we think people might not love is the swamp scent. It was a musty scent which we didn’t hate, but it is unique! We can most easily compare it to a moist or damp scent.

The ride officially takes flight later this week in Disney World, and we can’t wait! Disney hasn’t confirmed how long this version of the ride will be around. We can’t wait to check out the ride again and again once it opens. As always, be sure to keep following AllEars for more Disney news, updates, and more.
