Disney World is always changing, from new rides to park expansions and closures.

In 2024 alone, we’ve seen ride closures, refurbishments, new stores, restaurants, and more. If you’re visiting Disney World this year, there are a bunch of changes you need to be ready for — and some things you’ll do for the last time in 2024.
Ride This Version of Test Track
Test Track at EPCOT is set to close for reimagining on June 17th, 2024. Aside from some concept art, details on the attraction have been limited. We know the new version will take riders through (what looks like) a forest and the ride vehicles look closer to the vehicles from the World of Motion.

Based on the art and information we do have, this could be a lengthy refurbishment and it’s possible that it bleeds into 2025 — but that’s simply speculation at this point. Disney has filed permits for the changes already, so we’ll be interested to see when this ride will reopen!
See EPCOT with Construction Walls Everywhere
On June 10th, CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza, massive pieces of EPCOT’s Transformation, finally opened! This is a new center for all of EPCOT’s festivals, starting with the Food & Wine Festival beginning in August, and it marks a huge milestone in this refurbishment.

Experience the Original Country Bear Jamboree
Country Bear Jamboree is in the process of being TRANSFORMED to feature a NEW act inspired by classic variety shows found in Nashville, Tennessee. If you didn’t get to see the previous version of the show, you’re out of luck!

The update to this country western musical revue, performed by animatronic bears, will be reopening on July 17th and we can’t wait! This attraction, which has been around since 1971, was one of the last projects that Walt Disney himself helped to create. But now it’ll have some new touches.
Walk Past Construction at the Polynesian Hotel
Currently slated to open in December 2024, the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows at Disney World might still be under construction, but we’re already planning a visit!

As for the rooms, the Island Tower will offer a variety of room types that will sleep anywhere from two to nine guests. Options include duo studios, one- and two-bedroom villas, and two-bedroom penthouse villas. Many rooms also boast outstanding views.
Get Attacked by Bugs at Animal Kingdom (Probably)
As part of upcoming changes to Animal Kingdom (more on that later!) Disney announced that It’s Tough to Be a Bug will permanently close for a new Zootopia show.

And, while we can’t say we’re thrilled that this fun show will be gone for good, we can say we’re pretty darn excited we won’t ever be attacked by bugs in Animal Kingdom again. Though we can’t promise the real bugs won’t still get ya, and we’ll also miss bringing unsuspecting victims into this attraction for the first time.
Walk Through DinoLand, U.S.A. (Maybe)
In April, Disney confirmed our suspicions when it announced that DinoLand U.S.A. in Disney’s Animal Kingdom will eventually be phased out and the park will give way to a NEW themed area — Tropical Americas.

And, while we don’t have a whole lot of details yet, we do know that Primeval Whirl has already closed, and DINOSAUR is rumored to be replaced by an Indiana Jones attraction similar to the one at Disneyland, which could be happening as soon as this year based on permits Disney has already filed.

Disney World will be changing in a major way in 2024 and later in 2025. If you want to get a jump on the biggest changes coming to the parks and beyond to prepare for your trip, check out these major updates you need to know about.
