One of the big differences between the Universal Orlando parks and Disney World parks is the controversial locker rule. While Universal states you may not bring bags on many attractions, Disney World is a little more lenient with its bag policy.

This is also true for Universal Orlando’s newest park, Epic Universe, which opens to the public officially on May 22nd. We got a special preview recently and experienced the park for the first time! If you often bring a park bag on vacation (like maybe a Loungefly mini backpack), you’ll be glad to know that the lockers at one of the park’s most popular attractions boasts REALLY big lockers!
One of the five new lands at Epic Universe is inspired by classic Universal monsters! It’s called Dark Universe, and it was just as incredible as we expected. During our visit, we headed over to Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, which is the headlining attraction in this part of the park. There were a LOT of surprises on this ride, but we were shocked when we took a look at the lockers.

The free lockers available at this attraction are massive — much larger than the normal (small) free lockers we typically see at Universal Orlando.

Typically, larger lockers at Universal Orlando park rides cost around $3 to use while you ride, which is why we recommend bringing the smallest bag possible to the parks if you’re planning to ride a lot of attractions. Below is a photo of the free lockers from The Incredible Hulk Coaster over in Islands of Adventure — there’s a BIG difference!

Oh, and by the way, here’s what the ride vehicle looks like at Monsters Unchained — it’s no wonder bags are not allowed on the ride! You might recognize it as a ride vehicle similar to the ones used for Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, so be prepared for some big movements during the attraction.

While we found that this ride is indeed motion-sick-inducing, especially for those prone to it, we thought the feeling wasn’t as bad as what we’ve experienced on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. If we had to rate our level of motion sickness, we would say it’s better than Forbidden Journey, but it is worse than Cosmic Rewind over in Disney World’s EPCOT. Basically, if you’re prone to motion sickness, beware, but we had a great time on it regardless!
