We love staying at all the different resorts around Disney World.

As much as we look forward to a stay at a Disney World hotel, certain Disney World hotel trends give us that uneasy feeling otherwise known as an ick.
Don’t get us wrong; there are so many benefits to staying at a hotel at Disney World. You get free transportation and Early Entry, and those staying at Deluxe Resorts can partake in Extended Evening Hours.

Plus, with the new Genie+, known as Lightning Lane Multi and Single Pass, those staying at a Disney World hotel get an advantage when booking these passes. Selections can be made seven days before check-in, whereas non-hotel guests can only make selections three days before.

Starting next year, if you stay at a Disney World hotel, you, along with anyone on your reservation, will get a free ticket to visit either Disney’s Blizzard Beach or Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park on the day of check-in.

While all of this is great, a few Disney World hotel trends that give us the ick.
Many Disney World hotels have received a lot of TLC lately. Rooms across the resort have been refurbished and updated. Some of the most noticeable room changes have been at resorts like Disney’s Pop Century Resort and the All-Star Resorts. These rooms used to feel super outdated, but now the refurb has not only made them look more modern but has also provided more space.

One trend we do not like is when hotels remove the bathtub in a hotel room and only offer a shower option. Resorts like Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort have rooms with and without bathtubs, but some resorts are straight-up tub-less.

Other resorts with no bathtub options include Disney’s Riveria Resort, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. This can be difficult for parents with little ones.

Sometimes, we like to unwind and take a bath after a long day in the parks. There is nothing quite like staying at Disney’s Bay Lake Tower and watching the fireworks from the bathtub.

Speaking of refurbishing rooms, Disney does not refurbish them all at once. This is done to keep most of the hotels open during construction. For example, in 2017, the Pop Century Rooms were updated, but the work was not complete for all of the rooms until 2018.

This can be frustrating for those trying to stay in a newly refurbished room as there may not be as many rooms available until the entire refurbishment is done.

It can also be frustrating when other parts of the resort are difficult to access due to construction walls.

As we said, we get why Disney breaks up the construction, but we still get the ick from it.
Another hotel trend that gives us the ick is bus loops. Resorts like Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, Disney’s Treehouse Villas, Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, along with Cabins and Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort all have bus loops.

Some resorts only have one bus stop, such as Disney’s Rivera Resort or even the All-Star Resorts. The resorts listed above have multiple stops. This means that not only do you have to wait your turn to get on the bus, but you also have to go through the rest of the loop depending on where your room is, and then you get to repeat it on your way back to your resort.

Not all bus loops are bad, but we would prefer to rent a car when we stay at these resorts to avoid dealing with them.

Staying at a Disney World resort during your vacation can really immerse you in all of the magic that the Disney Bubble has to offer! For us, sometimes it is hard for us to get past these three hotel trend icks.
