I’ve Got One MAJOR Gripe With Disney’s Pop Century Hotel Bathrooms

You’ve got plenty of hotel options to choose from when it comes to your Disney World trip — from Deluxe to Moderate to Value!

Disney’s Pop Century Resort

Pop Century Resort, one of Disney’s Value resorts, is a fun, nostalgia-inspired hotel with the huge perk of being on the Disney Skyliner route. I’ve stayed at this hotel before, but not since the rooms were refurbished — and I’ve got one major gripe with it!

Disney Vacation Planner

Disney’s Pop Century Resort is popular — and for good reason! It’s decently priced for a Disney World hotel, offers fun, Disney theming, and it’s on the Skyliner route. And that’s precisely why I chose to stay there on my most recent weekend trip to Disney World.

Get a call from Mickey!

I used the My Disney Experience app to check in, and once my room was available I headed straight there (after I had my fair share of fun at the parks, of course!) Thanks to mobile hotel check-in, I didn’t even have to visit the lobby — which was a win for me.

Pop Century

The rooms at Pop Century were refurbished a few years ago to include new furnishings, beds, theming, and more — and the bathrooms were redone as well. I really do love the renovations as they breathed a bit of new life into this value hotel — but I have a problem with the bathrooms.

You see those pocket doors tucked into the wall there? Then you see my problem. Those doors. Whose idea was it to put POCKET BARN DOORS as the entrance to this water closet and shower area?! Are you aware of what goes down in the bathroom? It’s a place where most people want a fully closed, locked door.

Bathroom

That’s especially true in an intimate space like a hotel room. There’s also another barn door that leads to the main sink and vanity area, which does provide a bit more privacy — but come on, Disney! Is it too much to ask for real doors? These don’t even lock properly — at least the door in my room didn’t.

Bathroom

After airing my grievances with some of my colleagues, it came to my attention that apparently, not all Pop Century hotel room bathrooms have these doors and some do have regular, latching doors. Which honestly only peeves me even more to think of what could have been.

Don’t worry, Pop Century. I still love you.

Pop Century is HUGE and may mean you have a long walk to get around the hotel to your room.

  1. We found mold under the cap of the refillable body wash! My daughter broke the pump from the bottle and as I tried to fix it I noticed black and brown slimy mold in under the cap! We brought our own but we ran out so we used theirs. It was the day before we checked out so we just used the little bar soaps they provide. It was disgusting! We were too busy to contact the front desk but I wish we would of.

  2. My problem is that they took the table away. Now you have a pull-down bed, which converts the table into a bed. You used to have the bed and the table both.
