6 Major Changes Coming to Disney World in June

Summer 2026 is going to be a BUSY time to visit Disney World!

EPCOT

There are so many things happening in the next few months, and if you’re trying to fit them all into your trip, you’re going to need to plan carefully. Today, I’ve rounded up the list of everything that’s changing in Disney World in June 2026 so you can be prepared!

The Flower & Garden Festival Ends

The EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival has been ongoing since March, and it’s one of the highlights of the year. The park is decked out in stunning topiaries and floral displays, and the eats are garden-inspired with fresh fruits and veggies. But that festival will be coming to a close on June 1st.

After Flower & Garden wraps up, we’ll enter a period of time where there is NO festival in EPCOT (it’s kind of rare for that to happen) until the International Food & Wine Festival starts on August 27th. We’ll see you there!

H2O Glow Nights Returns

Speaking of special events, a popular water park event returns in June! H2O Glow Nights at Typhoon Lagoon is BACK on June 2nd, running on select nights through September 5th. It’s a three-hour bash in the park after dark, and you get the chance to see the space lit up and lively.

The party is a hard-ticketed event, meaning you’ll need separate admission to attend. There will be a lineup of popular Disney characters to see, as well as specialty snacks and entertainment. Honestly? It’s a blast!

Hollywood Studios Is Closing Early One Day

If you’re heading to Disney World this summer (or anytime really), you’ll definitely want to check the calendar before you decide on your park visits. Why? Because sometimes, the parks will close early for special events or other scheduled happenings. That’s exactly what’s going to happen at Hollywood Studios on June 18th.

Tower of Terror

On that Thursday, the park will close early at 6PM to all daytime visitors. The park will still open at 9AM for regular guests and at 8:30AM for Early Theme Park Entry. So, you’ll be getting fewer park hours this day than other days. If you’re concerned about value, it’s a good day to skip Hollywood Studios, but if you’re concerned about crowds, these short park days are usually quite easygoing.

The Polynesian Village Resort Is Getting a Perk Back

If you’re going to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort in May and June, you may notice that water taxi transportation is on a hiatus. From May 11th through June 5th, there is routine maintenance at the resort’s boat dock, meaning water taxis will not be coming to this hotel. Thankfully, on June 6th, they are scheduled to be back in operation!

Boat dock is closed!

These boats service both the Polynesian Village Resort and the Grand Floridian Resort, taking guests and visitors of those hotels to and from the Magic Kingdom. Transportation is still available to the boat dock at the Grand Floridian while the Polynesian dock is closed. And at this time, the Polynesian’s Monorail station is still open, as well.

Stitch Day

Each year on June 26th, AKA 6/26, Disney celebrates Stitch Day! The date is the same as Stitch’s experiment number, and so we often find special celebrations at the parks…and sometimes the resorts.

We’ve seen specialty treats and new merchandise collections, and you might want to be on the lookout for Stitch in the parks! Disney hasn’t yet announced the 2026 celebrations at the time of publishing, but we’ll keep you updated.

Westward Ho May Close

This one hasn’t yet been confirmed by Disney, but the Westward Ho snack stand is no longer showing hours of operation starting on June 22nd. It has long been suspected that this snack stand could close as part of changes coming to Frontierland, but there has been no official announcement.

The snack spot currently serves bacon on a stick, some breakfast items, corn dog nuggets, and various basic treats. Hopefully we’ll get some of these items moved to new locations if it closes!

Can’t Forget the Excitement of May!

Of course, all of these things are officially kicking off in June, but there is a great deal of excitement happening toward the end of May as well. The May dates will likely affect your June trip, as several new attractions and offerings will be taking place.

Here she is!

On May 22nd, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is getting an update inspired by The Mandalorian and Grogu movie being released on the same day. You’ll be able to go on missions with the popular characters, and the Engineer will now be able to select which planet you visit.

May 26th is the big day though! It’s the kickoff of Cool KIDS’ SUMMER, which lasts through September 8th. This event features fun activities in each of the parks, including Jessie’s Roundup in Magic Kingdom and Bluey’s Wild World at Animal Kingdom.

Also that day, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will open at Hollywood Studios. The Walt Disney Studios land that’s replacing Animation Courtyard is opening, but with only one new attraction at this time — Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! (We’ll have to wait until later in the summer for The Magic of Disney Animation to open.)

Woohoo!

At EPCOT on the same day, Soarin’ Across America premieres for the 250th anniversary of the United States. It will feature new scenes with iconic American landmarks.

And of course, May 26th is also the day that the water park perk returns for those staying at Disney World resorts. If you’re staying at a Disney Resort over the summer, you can get free entry to the water parks on your check-in day.
