A NEW ride has arrived in Disney World, and we are HYPED!

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is officially opening in Hollywood Studios on May 26th, but is currently open for previews. The ride is an update to the previous Aerosmith version with an all-new soundtrack, pre-show, storyline, and, of course, lots and lots of Muppets. Here’s what you need to know before you hop on board!
The Music Is Shockingly Quiet
One thing that fans were rather excited about with this new version of the ride is the soundtrack by The Electric Mayhem. The band has five different rock song covers that could play during your ride. The songs are as follows:
- “Song 2” — The Electric Mayhem (made famous by Blur)
- “Born To Be Wild” — The Electric Mayhem featuring Camilla the Chicken (made famous by Steppenwolf)
- “Love Rollercoaster” – The Electric Mayhem ft. Jennifer Hudson & Questlove
- “Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)” – The Electric Mayhem ft. Def Leppard
- “Walking on Sunshine” – The Electric Mayhem ft. Kelly Clarkson

But if you’re not listening closely, it might be hard to pick out which song you get! Every time that we’ve ridden so far, the volume has been pretty low, with the focus more on the ride effects than the soundtrack. Make sure you pay attention!
Keep Your Eyes Peeled
Speaking of paying attention, you’ve got to keep your eyes peeled for Easter eggs and special moments constantly. You get moved through the queue, pre-show, ride, and post-ride experience rather quickly, not stopping long at any one location. So it can be a challenge to spot hidden details if you’re not on the lookout the whole time.

One of the best moments of the ride comes toward the end, where you see the Statler and Waldorf animatronics from Muppet*Vision 3D. However, the ride vehicle is moving FAST, so if you blink, you might miss it. Basically, Muppets fans need to be attentive throughout the whole experience! (Or, you can check out our Easter eggs post to see what to look for before you go.)
It’s Still the Same Ride
If you thought that Disney would be updating the ride itself or swapping out the track during the makeover, then you’d be wrong. The entire ride revamp was done in just a few months, which didn’t really leave enough time to do major ride changes. You’ll still follow the same ride route and do the same inversions as before.

The scenes and signs on the attraction have been changed, and the vehicles are decorated differently, but the physical aspects of the ride are the same. This means that if you didn’t like how jerky the ride was before…well, it’s not any better now. Sit toward the front if the jerkiness is a problem for you — we found it to be better in the first few rows.
The Test Seat Is Hidden
Need to check out the test seat before you ride? Don’t worry, there IS one, it’s just hidden. You’ll need to ask for the test seat specifically, and a Cast Member will escort you down a hallway between the boarding area and the ride exit.

The seats are the same as the old version of the ride, but sitting in the test seat is a good way to gauge whether or not you’ll fit comfortably. If you have any concerns, it’s a good idea to ask to try it out!
Don’t Forget About the “Chicken” Exit
Ironically, the “chicken” exit for the ride is in the same area as the test seat. When you make it through the queue and preshow and arrive at the Cast Member who is sorting folks into rows, simply tell that person that you don’t wish to ride, and they’ll send you down a hallway to the ride exit.

We have a feeling the chicken exit is going to get more popular with this version of the ride, since folks will want to see the pre-show and the hidden details in the queue. It’s a fun walk-through for Muppets fans.
The Single Rider Line Is Still an Option
Many folks have been curious if the single rider queue would live on, and we’re here to tell you firsthand that it still exists. The queue signage has been updated, and there’s still a lane particularly for those riding solo. Keep in mind, though, that Disney has the option to close off that queue at any time, and it’s likely it won’t open initially with the ride.

With the old version of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, we didn’t typically recommend the single rider queue, because it can often take longer than the actual posted wait time for the ride. We don’t expect that to change much with the Muppets version, so proceed at your own risk.
