This is a big weekend for Star Wars fans!

The Mandalorian and Grogu releases to theatres this weekend, and the two popular characters are taking over the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. The highly anticipated change to the attraction is coming on May 22nd, but we got the awesome opportunity to check it out early at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The new version of Smugglers Run features three new missions alongside the Mandalorian and Grogu. There’s a lot of awesome stuff that’s come to the ride, but THE biggest upgrade was made to the engineering position. Between the pilot, gunners, and engineers, it looks like everyone will be fighting for the engineer spot!

This is a MASSIVE improvement to the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. We’ll call it how it is; it goes from a second-tier attraction straight up to the first. Look, we love Hando and Chewy, but having Mando and Grogu on this ride just hit completely different. Not to mention, you have not one, not two, but THREE different storylines you can do on this ride now.

Mando and Grogu have an unmatched dynamic with this attraction. Previously, the ride was a tentative must-do attraction at Hollywood Studios. You know, do it when you can type of attraction. However, now you HAVE to do this ride. You CANNOT miss it during a Hollywood day!

Not to mention that the fact that you get three stories increases the re-rideability by a ton. If you’re only in Hollywood for one day, you’ll have to do this ride multiple times to get every experience.

The ride is just so much fun with every position, but as we said, the engineer role just got an insane upgrade that just turned it from the worst position to arguably the best. The engineer now pretty much has a Grogu cam where you can check in on comms with Grogu, and you get to pick the location that the Falcon goes to.

We will note that we have gotten to ride the attraction twice, and both times the location selection went to the engineer sitting on the right side. We’re not sure if it always does that, but we noticed that was something — we’ll just have to ride a hundred more times to make sure!

There are just a ton of cute moments between Mando and Grogu where Grogu might get scared, fly out of his seat, or hold hands with Mando. If you’re in the engineer spot, you might have a hard time watching the actual ride, because there is so much to watch Grogu doing on the screen beside you. Again, a COMPLETELY different experience.

In our opinion, the gunner might be the weakest seat out of the three, but it’s definitely not bad. Every seat gets to see Grogu throughout the ride, but it’s the engineer who gets to INTERACT with Grogu!
