Annual Passes Are Gonna Get Complicated at Universal Orlando in 2026

Universal Orlando fans, buckle up, because things are about to get messy.

Annual Pass

Epic Universe officially opened back on May 22nd, 2025, and it’s already been a game-changer for the resort. But here’s the thing: even though the park has been open for months, there still isn’t an annual pass option that covers it. Universal has confirmed that Annual Pass details for Epic Universe are coming “at a later date,” which is making a lot of Passholders nervous. So let’s break down what we know, what we expect, and why 2026 might be one of the trickiest years yet for Universal Orlando’s Annual Pass program.

There’s Still No Epic Universe Annual Pass

As of right now, Universal’s official stance is this:

Q: Is there a Universal Epic Universe-inclusive Annual Pass?
A: More details regarding Annual Passes that include Universal Epic Universe will be announced at a later date. Although a Universal Epic Universe-inclusive Pass isn’t currently available for purchase, Passholders are currently able to purchase 1-Day Universal Epic Universe tickets at a special price.

So basically, even if you’re already a Universal Annual Passholder, you still need to buy a separate ticket if you want to visit Epic Universe. Sure, you get a “special” discount, but for people who are used to hopping between Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay whenever they want, this feels like a major letdown.

Why Universal Is Waiting

Universal isn’t offering Epic Universe passes yet, but there’s a strategy behind it. The park is brand new, and demand is sky-high. Limiting attendance to mostly day ticket holders helps Universal control crowds during its first year, and it prevents Passholders from flooding the park right away.

It also gives the company time to fine-tune operations. Epic Universe is massive, and it’s packed with groundbreaking attractions and new technology. By waiting to roll out passes, Universal ensures that when Passholders finally do arrive in droves, the park is running more smoothly than during those chaotic opening months.

On top of that, Universal can use Annual Passes as a safety net. If ticket sales slow down after the “newness” wears off, introducing Annual Pass options in 2026 could give attendance a healthy boost.

What 2026 Might Look Like

Here’s where it gets complicated. Annual Passes that include Epic Universe are expected sometime in 2026. Most likely, Universal will either:

  • Add Epic Universe access as an add-on to existing pass tiers
  • Create a brand-new, higher-tier pass that covers all four parks

Both options come with their own issues. An add-on means existing Passholders would need to pay extra on top of what they’re already paying, and that could frustrate people who feel they’ve already invested in Universal access. On the other hand, a new higher-tier pass could make Epic Universe feel like a luxury option, leaving some fans priced out.

And let’s not forget: Universal has already set an expiration date on its current Passholder Perks — December 31st, 2025. That could line up perfectly with the announcement of new Epic Universe-inclusive passes. Translation? If you’re a Passholder, don’t be surprised if your renewal options look a lot different in early 2026.

Potential Price Jumps

It’s safe to say that whatever new pass tier or add-on Universal introduces, it won’t be cheap. Epic Universe isn’t just another park; it’s a multibillion-dollar expansion that Universal will want to maximize revenue on. That means annual passes that include Epic Universe could come with a hefty price tag.

Epic Universe

For comparison, Disney World’s Incredi-Pass (the priciest tier) is currently priced at over $1,500. While Universal has historically kept its passes a bit lower, Epic Universe could push them closer to Disney pricing. So if you’re budgeting for 2026, expect a bigger hit to your wallet if you want unlimited access to all four parks.

The Confusion Factor

Here’s where things might get messy for guests. If Universal introduces both add-ons AND new pass tiers, that’s going to make their Annual Pass program way more confusing than it is now. Guests will have to figure out:

  • Which pass includes Epic Universe
  • Whether it’s better to add on access or upgrade completely
  • How perks like free parking, hotel discounts, and Universal Express might differ across tiers

If you already thought Universal’s pass system was hard to navigate, 2026 could bring a whole new level of chaos.

What Passholders Should Do Now

So what does all this mean for current and future Passholders? Here are a few tips:

  • Don’t overcommit yet. If your pass is set to renew in late 2025, it might be worth waiting to see what Universal announces for 2026 before locking yourself in.
  • Keep an eye on perks. Some benefits could shift around once Epic Universe is included, so make sure you know exactly what you’re getting before you upgrade.
  • Plan for higher prices. Whether it’s an add-on or a new tier, Universal will use Epic Universe as a premium selling point. Budget accordingly.

Universal Orlando’s Annual Pass program has always been a solid value compared to Disney’s, but Epic Universe changes the game. With a brand-new theme park in the mix, passes are bound to get more expensive, more complicated, and harder to choose between.

Annual Pass

If you’re a Universal superfan who wants full access to all four parks, 2026 will be the year you need to make some big decisions.

  1. WHAT?? Game changer?? High demand?? Massive?? Packed with attractions?? Have you even been there?? First, it’s not massive. It’s the same size as Magic Kingdom and second, there are 11 rides and 2 shows. Ride wait times are extremely long because there is nothing to do so everyone there is just waiting to go on a handful of rides. It’s empty and boring and only holding about 15,000 people a day because there is LOW demand and Epic is scared to let in more because of wait times. Tickets are available in person and never sell out. They keep giving express pass to people as a consolation prize leaving express line wait times long too. The reason they won’t add Epic to annual passes is because of the low capacity and they need to make ticket money on every head. Adding annual passes will decrease the amount of money coming in and increase the amount of people in the park further irriating people in ride lines. The kids are not alright.

    1. Whoa girl.. slow down there, lol. The majority of content creators are checking and there weekly, monthly, if not daily. They know what they’re talking about. Remember, going to these parks is an option, but don’t discourage others from having a great time at a theme park other than Disney. It’s not that serious and especially not what you’re making it out to be. Locals know what’s up. Don’t fret.

  2. I just hope they add Epic top the Freedom Pass next year, even if does raise the price a bit more. It would certainly be a let down to not have it included as my family travels twice a year for a week’s stay and it would be so cool to have the kids really experience Epic without rushing for just one day like this year.

  3. Went yo epic last week it was fair so i probably won’t go back anytime soon whereas i went to Universal 2 parks on Monday and Wednesday and had a blast. The potter ride at epic was amazing but not worth paying over $100 to ride again. I’ll stick to my preferred pass and have a fantastic time instead

  4. A bit less? Compared to Disney’s $1500 pass, Universal’s highest is only $900, with their lowest one at just over $400, and they don’t lock non-residents into the highest one.

    1. Universal is only 2 parks with very little to do for that $900. Disney has 4 parks for $1500 and a million things to do and see with a million times better food and tons of things going on. Disney is a way better value.

  5. Of course epic isn’t going to be available for a while. If it happens next year I’ll be shocked. I don’t see it happening within the next five years. At best, I can see them adding it as either a random perk for premiere (like 3 times a year to be announced throughout the year) or as part of a 4 park premiere only pass.

    1. They have confirmed that it will be added next year. Many of us here have spoken with several team members and they’ll also tell you when you call as well ??

  6. I would pay a little more but if they think they are gonna just get a crazy high price just cuz of the new park a lot of Passholders won’t do that. We have become accustomed to the value you get at Universal vs Disney. If they go too crazy with the price hike they are no better than Disney….personal opinion 100 bucks more per year per pass and just include epic. Anything more than that and people will stop going as much I think. Also if they do make a higher tier pass to include everything then need to make that one 100 higher than the current top tier pass.

    1. WHAT?? Disney passes get you into 4 parks LOADED with things to do and a million times better food than Universal could even imagine. Disney passes are light years ahead of universal in terms of value. No comparison. You think Universal is going to build a billion dollar park and then just give it to pass holders for free??? The tickets right now are $200 a day to get in because they are trying to make their money back from the cost. You think having another park on an AP is not going to increase the price significantly?? Keep dreaming.

      1. Universal food is WAY better than Disney.. coming from a Disney person since the 1960s going since the 70s. It’s just the truth. Disney food isn’t bad but their quick service is horrid compared to universal, to start. We know many chefs that have left Disney for universal complaining about the experience. Not all table service is bad either but not all good. Disney will always be number 1 in the world but they could also use a ton of help in MANY areas. Epic is doing things right and many Disney people have seen that and can admit it. It’s not the end of the world. Disney will be fine. Lol
