It seems like a Disney World vacation gets a little more expensive every year. If you’ve ever thought that you wind up spending MORE money every time you visit, you’re definitely not alone!
This year, there has been a few noticeable price jumps from small purchase like souvenirs to massive investments like tickets.
Let’s take a look at some of the biggest price increases we’ve seen so far at Disney World this year.
Disney After Hours BOO Bash
One of the biggest cases of “sticker shock” we had this year happened when Disney announced the ticket prices for their new After Hours event, BOO Bash. The Halloween event, taking the place of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party for 2021, saw a significant jump in price!
For comparison, the 2019 Halloween parties ranged in price from $79 to $135 per person, depending on the night you were visiting. In 2021, BOO Bash ranges in price from $129 to $199.
While it’s important to note these events are not the same, as one was a “party” and one classified as an “after hours event”, the prices have certainly seen a jump from year to year.
Savi’s Workshop
Those DIY lightsabers from Savi’s Workshop already cost a pretty penny at $199 each. But this year we saw that price go up! Now, a custom lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop will cost you $219 each.
MagicBands
For years, Disney World mailed complimentary MagicBands to all of their hotel guests prior to arrival. Starting at the beginning of 2021, Disney ended its free MagicBand program. Not only that, but purchasing a new standard MagicBand ahead of time saw a $5 increase!
Guests may choose to reuse a previously purchased MagicBand, or they can opt into the new complimentary MagicMobile service, which brings the convenience of MagicBands to your smart phone.
“Access” to evening extended park hours
While there is no separate fee to access the Disney World theme parks in the evening hours, there was a major update this year that would make it a little more expensive if you wanted to have as much “access” to the parks as possible.
Disney World’s Extended Evening Hours are now exclusive to guests staying at Deluxe and Deluxe Villa resort hotels. So, if you want to stay in the parks until the latest possible moment, you’ll need to shell out some extra cash upfront to stay at one of their top-tier hotels.
