2 New Attractions CONFIRMED to Open at Fairytale Theme Park in 2026

One of Europe’s most popular theme parks is about to add not one, but TWO brand new rides!

Quiny and Emma at Efteling!

Founded in 1952, Efteling, located in the Netherlands, has become a beloved institution for generations of guests. Theme park aficionados travel from across the continent — and the WORLD — to take in the park’s lush and manicured grounds, as well as dozens of attractions themed to the ancient myths, legends, fairy tales, fables, and folklore of Europe.

In early 2026, Efteling announced some major new additions coming to the park. The first, Hooghmoed, is a child-friendly drop tower attraction which opened May 1st, 2026.

The attraction, which is made up of three towers each measuring approximately 40 feet tall, is themed as a companion piece to its neighbor, the gold mine-themed dive coaster Baron 1898. According to the park, “the tall chimney of the gold smeltery must be cleaned regularly.

To reach the chimney, the young chimney sweeps (the attraction visitors) take the lift tower up. Spinning at a height of 9.5 metres, the view is spectacular. But then the Witte Wieven (the Wailing Women) appear and sabotage the ride. A steel cable snaps and the lift plunges several metres down into mist and smoke…”

Each of the ride’s towers has a capacity of 10 people, allowing 30 guests per ride, and feature their own ride sequence of approximately 1.5 minutes. Riders must be approximately 2.95 feet tall, and children must be accompanied by an adult approximately 4.3 feet tall.

The park will also be opening a newly revamped area at the end of 2026. According to Efteling, the Raveleijn area of the park will be “completely transformed with a new storyline, decor and impressive show effects, whilst the current main characters will remain part of the performance.”

The new area will feature a new attraction, a “rotating flying experience” that will allow visitors to “soar as if on the wings of ravens,” according to the park. Koen Sanders, Efteling’s Director of Product, Market & Image, described the new land in a press release, saying, “In line with our vision of full immersion, we are looking at the entire area surrounding the park show in this development. The story of Raveleijn lends itself perfectly to this.

By placing the new attraction outside the open-air arena, we are enlarging the themed area. The park show will undergo a complete transformation, meaning that it will be performed more often than ever before: several times a day and almost year-round. We are also choosing more environmentally friendly fire effects, which, combined with the improvements to the show, will create an even more spectacular experience for guests.”

The as-of-yet unnamed ride

These new additions are coming at a strong time for Efteling, as the park has consistently been one of Europe’s most popular in recent years, often in the continent’s top 3 most visited parks annually, along with Europa Park in Germany, and even Disneyland Paris.
