Which is the BEST Disney World Park to Visit for the Anniversary Celebration?

If you haven’t heard, October 1st, 2021 is going to be a BIG day in Disney World history! That date, of course, is the 50th anniversary since Magic Kingdom first opened its gates and Disney World welcomed their first guests to the resort.

So, there’s no doubt that Magic Kingdom is going to be a popular place to be on October 1st this year! But since then, we’ve learned that it’s also a big day for EPCOT fans!

That’s because October 1st is when Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is set to open in the France Pavilion, as well as La Crêperie de Paris!

If you’re heading to Disney World this October and you’re undecided on whether you should visit Magic Kingdom or EPCOT on the 1st, we have all the important information you’ll need when deciding where to celebrate the 50th anniversary!

Magic Kingdom

There’s really no argument here: Magic Kingdom is going to be a really special place to be on October 1st. It is, after all, the park that’s turning 50!

October 1st is the official “kick off” date for the 50th anniversary celebration, which is set to last a whopping eighteen months through April of 2023. So, this date stands to be the first opportunity to check out the new “EARidescence” Cinderella Castle.

October 1st should also be the first date we can see Mickey and Minnie in their new 50th anniversary outfits!

There may be even more announcements in the coming months leading up to October! But even if there are no additional special events taking place in Magic Kingdom on October 1st, it’ll go down in history as one of those memorable “I was there!” sort of days.

Now here’s the bad news…as of this writing, Park Pass Reservations are FULLY booked at Magic Kingdom on October 1st. Disney could always wind up adding additional Park Passes, but at this moment you cannot book a Park Pass for Magic Kingdom on that date.

You can always give Park Hopping a shot but keep in mind that Park Hopping is subject to capacity and there is no guarantee that you’ll make it in. So if your heart is set on visiting Magic Kingdom on October 1st and you haven’t grabbed a Park Pass Reservation yet, keep an extra close watch on that Reservation availability calendar (keep an eye on AllEars as well! We post frequent Park Pass Reservation updates!).

EPCOT

Don’t forget that EPCOT’s anniversary is also October 1st! The park will be turning 39 this year, so it won’t be hitting a major milestone in 2021 like Magic Kingdom. But it’s still celebrating in a big way!

Spaceship Earth

In fact, one could argue that EPCOT has more going on than Magic Kingdom on October 1st! Spaceship Earth is also getting an “EARidescence” makeover that will make way for a more permanent nighttime transformation in preparation for the park’s 40th anniversary in 2022.

Of course, all eyes will be on the France Pavilion on October 1st, since it will mark the grand opening of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and La Crêperie de Paris! New park offerings are always super popular amongst guests so EPCOT stands to be much more BUSY on October 1st now than it would have been otherwise!

For example, if EPCOT wasn’t the popular choice amongst guests visiting Disney World on October 1st, it certainly is now! Since the announcement of Remy’s opening date, EPCOT has run out of Park Pass Reservations for Annual Passholders on October 1st.

If you choose to Park Hop to EPCOT on October 1st, your chances will be slimmer that you’ll be able to ride Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure or dine at La Crêperie de Paris. Currently, Advance Dining Reservations are not available for the table service portion of this new location, but we will keep a close watch and let you know as soon as that happens (currently, you can book ADR’s 60 days out, which would mean the earliest you should be able to book La Crêperie de Paris is around August 1st).

If you are not an Annual Passholder, Park Pass Reservations are still available for EPCOT as of this writing! Just like Magic Kingdom, it’s possible we will see more Reservations become available throughout the next several months, so be sure to check back on that Reservation calendar frequently!

No matter which park you choose to visit, October 1st will be a memorable day in Disney World! If you know you’ll be in Disney World on October 1st but you want to avoid crowds altogether, you can always head to Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Disney’s Animal Kingdom! There will likely be less happenings in those parks, but you can still say that you were in Disney World on its 50th anniversary.
