A Classic Disney World Ride FINALLY Reopens Next Week — But 3 More Remain Closed!

Sometimes, Disney World’s rides and resorts need a little spiffying up, which means they’ll close for refurbishment.

Magic Kingdom

Luckily, we’re constantly keeping you posted on all these closures! Today, we’re bringing you a refurbishment update on all the attractions that will be closed from March 29th through April 4th, 2021.

Kali River Rapids

Kali River Rapids closed this January for its typical seasonal maintenance. It’s pretty common for Disney to perform refurbishment on water rides in the winter, when demand to ride them is lower than usual.

It’s expected to reopen on April 2nd, so you’ll get a chance to get splashed again soon!

Walt Disney World Railroad

It’s been a while since we’ve been able to ride the Walt Disney World Railroad: over 2 years! And a reopening date still hasn’t been announced. This extended closure is due to construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run blocking the railroad’s path around the park.

Train in Fantasyland Station

Disney hasn’t announced an opening date for the railroad yet because it hasn’t announced one for TRON, either. And we’ll have to see that coaster make pretty hefty progress before the railroad can run once again!

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover

The PeopleMover has been closed since March 2020 — that’s a long time! And while the reopening has been rescheduled multiple times, we may finally have an actual reopening to look forward to.

People on the PeopleMover!

That’s right: the PeopleMover is due to reopen next week, on April 4th! Of course, this date is subject to change. We’ll keep you posted if it does!

The Hall of Presidents

Every time a new president is elected, the Hall of Presidents will temporarily close for refurb. Right now, Disney’s busy installing an audio-animatronic figure for President Joe Biden.

Main Street Confectionery

The Main Street Confectionery is closing on March 29th for a lengthy refurbishment — and Disney hasn’t announced when we’ll be able to stop by again for cupcakes and fudge.

Right now, it’s listed as closed through June 5th. But Disney hasn’t posted its refurbishment schedule past that day, so we could be looking at an even longer closure. We’ll keep you updated with any news!

Disney World Resort Refurbishments

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is getting some major work done! When the construction wraps up this summer, we’ll see changes to the entryway, lobby, and monorail station. The rooms are also getting a Moana makeover, and they’re taking reservations starting this July!

Monorail Construction

Now let’s talk pools! At the Polynesian, Kiki Tikis Splash Play Area is closed through the end of March. That means it’s due to open next week, but Disney hasn’t announced exactly when. And at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, the Big Blue Pool is getting refurbished through early April.
